Something is rotten in the state of North Carolina

It’s another MAGA ploy to steal another election.

We hve never heard this song before.

Do you or anyone have any proof that the democrats ginned up 5000 to 10000 false or forged votes. Of course you don’t. No one ever does.

There are 65,000 ballots that are being contested. The voters who cast their ballots didn’t do anything wrong or anything that they had not done before in earlier elections.

If my vote got thrown out because of a technicality I would be extremely upset. Just another way that the voter ID movement is screwing the voting public. Originally Posted by txdot-guy

State Supreme Court presses pause on Griffin-Riggs election dispute

The North Carolina Supreme Court issued a stay order Monday in the election dispute involving a seat on the state’s highest court. The decision essentially presses pause in the dispute pitting Republican candidate Jefferson Griffin against the State Board of Elections and Democratic candidate Allison Riggs.

Riggs and the elections filed separate requests Sunday for a temporary stay. In separate court filings, Riggs and the elections board also seek an order called a writ of supersedeas.

The complaint is not that the ballot is invalid but that a duly registered voter is invalid. Because a piece of information is left off of their voter registration.

What makes this argument even more absurd is that they aren’t going to invalidate this registered voter’s entire ballot but only the one for the race in question. Leaving the votes for other races and candidates as valid.

If they want these voter registrations to be fixed then they should invalidate the registration and have that voter fix their registration for future elections.

Using this as an excuse to throw out a single vote for a single candidate is not a reasonable response and appears to be suspect in its entirety.

Top NC court upholds 60K votes challenged by Griffin, leaves others in doubt

The North Carolina Supreme Court split 4-2 Friday afternoon in a decision designed to resolve the dispute over last fall’s high court election. A unanimous court agreed that more than 60,000 ballots cast by voters with incomplete voter registration records should count. But the fate of 5,700 other challenged ballots remains uncertain.
…..

“Under this court’s longstanding precedent, mistakes made by negligent election officials in registering citizens who are otherwise eligible to vote ‘will not deprive the [citizens] of [their] right to vote or render [their] vote[s] void after [they have] been cast,’” the court order explained.

“To the extent that the registrations of voters in the first category are incomplete, the Board is primarily, if not totally, responsible,” the Supreme Court majority agreed.

The elections board learned about the problems with voter registration in 2023 but “did nothing … to ensure that any past violations were remedied,” the order explained.

“The board’s inattention and failure to dutifully conform its conduct to the law’s requirements is deeply troubling,” the Supreme Court majority wrote. “Nevertheless, our precedent on this issue is clear. Because the responsibility for the technical defects in the voters’ registration rests with the Board and not the voters, the wholesale voiding of ballots cast by individuals who subsequently proved their identity to the Board by complying with the voter identification law would undermine the principle that ‘this is a government of the people, in which the will of the people — the majority — legally expressed, must govern.’”

….
:... Good for them! .. . This is what we wanted to happen.
The ballot challenge was heard - and they made the decision
that most of the ballots had small issue or so - that doesn't
seem to matter (do they really need to add their driver's
license info to the ballot? - WHY??).

Seems like a reasonable decision from a mostly
Republican Court.

Now, we'll see about the 5,000 or so OTHER ballots
and whether or not THEY pass muster.
