I read an articles years ago. Granted, almost impossible to cite it since the gents interviewed only did so anonymously, but it claimed that over 40% of them stated part of the reason why is for the emotional intimacy, even if it's only short lived. I think it's likely true.

The why is really variety if I am being honest. My current is an 8 hour drive away in grad school so that leaves ample time to hit up the strip club or grab a nice massage. Those are my main thing its quick in and out so to speak. Single serving style like Fight Club
