The biggest issue is the farther north you go the less hours of daylight in winter. They are the ones that really don't want daylight savings time in winter.


Only 8 to 9 hours of daylight in December in January..

But in May thru August they have a lot more day.

Don't forget international trade and movement. You lose an hour just by arriving out of Canada?

For those wanting year around daylight savings time, the United States did that one year while Jimmy Carter was President to "save energy" was the excuse. It was I think in 1978, but could have been 1977. It lasted one year as they found that it actually increased energy usage in December, January, and February, plus many of the school kids were going to school in the dark as well.



Massive complaints and they got rid of it.


I am in favor of standard time year around. The sun is highest in the sky roughly at noon which is about half the day. It does vary depending on if you are on the eastern or western part of the time zone.

Maybe he could just change the name to American Time. Chit, he could sic DOGE on the time zones ... fuck 'em, they're too complicated! Problem solved.
