it's all about Milk being gay and nothing else. he wasn't even murdered for being gay. it's simply about naming a ship for someone who was gay without any other reason.

He was the first openly gay politician to be elected in the united states. He was a school teacher.
What it comes down to is that he was a dedicated public servant who through his acceptance of his sexuality inspired and influenced the gay rights movement.
Just like the other names I listed, USNS Thurgood Marshall, USNS Ruth Bader Ginsburg, USNS Harriet Tubman, USNS Dolores Huerta, USNS Lucy Stone, USNS Cesar Chavez and USNS Medgar Evers, they all have had a role to play in the civil rights movement.
I don’t have a problem with naming a USNS vessel after any of them.
