Rates should be 2.5% lower by now. Builders are offering incentives to get buyers in the home.

Blackman,
Maybe your kids need to look at a cheaper house.

Trump did keep his campaign promise about shutting down the borders. I give him credit for that. I'll leave ICE out of this post because that's not what this thread is about.

Anyway, you guys can get back to talking about housing and interest rates which IMO is more interesting because my sister is a builder. Her rich clients just pay cash for the mansions she builds with her likely illegal immigrant laborers that her contractors employ. Haha
Bullshit. It is not the cost of the home that prevents some from purchasing a home. It's the interest rate. Inventory is low because many can't qualify with higher rates. The housing market will boom with lower rates. Originally Posted by Budman

The overall effect of deporting the folks actually doing the labor of home building will be even higher prices. On top of that lowering interest rates will drive additional competition for the depressed inventory - hence driving up prices further.

So we need higher inventory to drive down prices. Not lower interest rates.

Border Patrol finally doing their jobs which will probably change in 4 years. Hopefully Trump doesn't follow thru with his Gold Card plan for 1 million people seeking permanent US residency at $5 million a pop. Allowing the rich to buy their way in so they can buy up America is a not a good idea. Originally Posted by CPT Savajo

So I have serious doubts that the illegals are having a high demand on the housing market.

What I do know though is that the cost of building homes is increasing due to labor costs (deportations) and wood (tariffs) so we know who's the root cause of the increase.
