The problem is that things will get worse before they get better, regardless of whether the impetus for change is internal or external. My son in law is a naturalized Cuban immigrant and that's the impression I get from him and his friends. Maybe I'm wrong. I haven't surveyed the entire country.

All one would have to do is cut off all or even most of oil and gas imports. Biggest importers are/were Venezuela and Mexico.
