What Trump is doing is the politicians version of Stolen Valor.

He’s putting his own name next to Kennedy’s hoping some of Kennedy’s fame and reputation will rub off on the Trump name.

It’s the same reason that rich people put their money to work burnishing their image by giving their money away to charity or like Nobel did by creating the Nobel prize.
