In 1947 my father returned form Europe and mustered out; my mother had her 5 yr old, me learn Smoke on The Water to sing for dad when he returned. Still one of only two times I can remember him cry.
When we started the gulf war I looked all over for this tune to give to a friend who was shipping out. It is still one of the greatest war tunes of all times.
BTW, I learned to dance to Bob Wills and the Texas Playboy's playing at the Pioneer Club on Research Blvd in Austin about where Anderson Mill crosses.
