State of the Union

obama said: the basic American promise
that if you worked hard, you could do well enough to raise a family,
own a home, send your kids to college, and put a little away for
retirement. The defining issue of our time is how to keep that promise alive. No
challenge is more urgent. No debate is more important.

who made that "promise" ? the founding fathers? the documents creating america?

obama confuses values and goals. America has (or had) a "value" of hardwork and independence and self-reliance, which may result in achieving a "goal" of some financial success. and exactly where is the "promise" obama speaks of other than some entitlement of obama's that has the effect of countering the value and making the goal even less achievable?

obama said: But with only 2 percent of the world's oil reserves, oil isn't enough.

now is that the truth or is it an obfuscation?, theres all sorts of "reserves". proved, proved behind the pipe, possible and probable....theres different kinds of oil too..oil shale versus oil..oil shale is kerogen in the ground...

so obama is limiting his definition to render the least to do what? mislead the public?

it is estimated by geologists that we have perhaps 1.5 trillion barrels of recoverable shale oil in the wyoming/rocky mountain area. more than 5 times the reserves in saudia arabia. so a word to obama...just be honest

and even though it is difficult to extract, we have the technology.

the eagle ford play south and east of san antonio is a shale.

Boltfan. I know your article is cut and paste, and that is usually criticized on this board. But Stossel has it exactly right.

In addition, I thought Obama's speech was boring and uninspired. He was clearly not at his best, and even the Democrats in the gallery looked bored or annoyed. The only one I really saw smile was Chuck Schumer, and that is because there were cameras present.

I would say it is only criticized when the paster doesn't cite their source. I get your point, but I don't claim his words as mine. Just like his thought process and it was very relevant to the topic at hand.

I watched. Sounded to me like he simply took his 2011 speech and just changed the date at the top of the page.

It's wearing thin.
Newsbusters? Stossel? Really? LMAO.

Is that all you have on the matter or do you wish to offer commentary that is intelligent or reasoned against his opinion? Come on, I'll bet you could almost do it without being rude and insulting before the urge overtakes you to blurt out something hateful.

Nevermind, forgot which forum this is. No reason generally exists here without being driven by fear or hate. You 10%ers are hilarious.
