As members of the community, we should act as a community. If it were your neighbor in a scary situation, wouldn't you want to help? Sometimes women are forced into it because they owe money (this turns into a vicious cycle, the lender provides them food, shelter, etc and then massively inflates the amount of money owed, to keep them in debt), they feel that it is the only way to earn a living, someone is forcing them to stay hooked on drugs, they came from a bad situation, etc. Often what happens with younger girls is they are coerced into it or they leave an abusive home and meet someone who suddenly starts treating them like family. They feel loved and become brainwashed

Not all ladies have the opportunities as most of us board members do. Let us not forget them

Okay, I've read the terrible story and saw the televison report - so tell me again, exactly who is the ELITE provider captured - because Sophie Simone's story, while tragic, doesn't really seem to qualify her as ELITE.....or maybe I'm missing something.

She used to be "elite"....before this awful tragedy unfolded.

Perhaps a more entertaining question for discussion purposes is should we as "insiders" feel compelled to report such issues when and if we encounter them...or is it simply a case of "that's their bad luck"? I can almost see trafficking as an elevated domestic situation. These women are most likely lured into sex slavery because they are in a relationship that influences negative behavior. The hobby is not the cause of the trafficking, it is what is behind the scenes that encourages women to become involved in such behavior. One additional comment, I knew Sophie and I would have never called her "Elite". To my knowledge she is still a guest of the state so I have no idea why this is getting more press almost two years later.
