Does anyone know the law (in Texas) about carrying large quantities of condoms?

... If there were such a law, I'd probably hear about it since my colleagues and I sit around in bars at night talking about condoms. A law like that would certainly rubber me the wrong way.

This is what happened at the Houston airport several years ago to me:

I figured if I could go through airport security with a TON of condoms, I'm probably alright going to a hotel with them.

But I keep hearing of ladies getting arrested, who are suspected of prostitution, because they have a bunch of condoms on them.
Why would they waste time on a law that limits the number of condoms one can carry. Originally Posted by MasterBaiter1996

A distinction needs to be made here. While it isn't illegal in Texas to possess condoms, or any quantity of condoms, there's no law barring LE from using condoms as evidence of prostitution, which is the subject of Elisabeth's article about NYC. I guess it's possible the cops could arrest someone on suspicion of prostitution merely because they have a lot of rubbers, but that evidence alone would not prove the offense of prostitution. On the other hand, I can see the state offering evidence that a whorehouse had a closet full of condoms in a prostitution trial as some evidence of prostitution, compared to if the closet was full of chocolate bunnies. But in my view, offering boxes of condoms to prove prostitution would be kind of silly. However, if I were a DA trying a prostitution case, I might show the jury a blow-up of a photo of the closet full of rubbers and call it the "cavernous condom closet."

I'll admit it. I purchase condoms in bulk. It's cheaper that way.

But do any of you limit how many condoms you have in one place? Or when doing an outcall, are you careful to not have twenty (or ten, etc.) condoms in your purse?

When I go to an outcall, I generally have at least ten condoms for toys, vibrators, my fingers if doing anal play, and God knows what else that we might need them for.

I would hate to think that if I was stopped for any reason, I would be charged with intent (or whatever it is called) because I had a pocket full of condoms.

Also, and this has been discussed in the past, TOYS? There used to be this five toy rule but supposedly, that has changed.

I know that going through the airport security, it's NO problem to have a suitcase full of floggers, condoms, toys, canes, etc. Or it hasn't been.

Would appreciate the opinion of others.

Thanks,

Sure, the officer might see all your toys and condoms and make assumptions but thats it. You are a sexually active person and it is for your own personal use. That is as far as it should ever get.

As far as the impeding an investigation. Shyster hit that on the head. About the most ridiculous thing Ive seen in awhile. Impeding an investigation only applies when a crime has been committed and the officer is actually investigating it. That doesnt apply to an officer believing a crime has been committed or is about to be.

Just saw Shysters post....

There is no suspicion of prostitution. They cannot arrest you for condoms or toys. Now, the officer could always take liberties when it comes to writing the ticket. If you are in a known prostitution area, have been ticketed or arrested before for solicitation AND have such a large grab bag of goodies, then yeah, the officer could go ahead and write the ticket and just let you fight it in court.

Surely, law enforcement needs a "probable cause" of some offense to be able to make a search that finds the condoms. That might be a substantial hurdle in all cases, regardless of the number of condoms found.

Of course, the main consideration ought to be avoiding activities that could lead to a search in the first place, rather than hoping that the search itself does not pass constitutional muster. I guess that's where screening and other good judgment by providers comes into play.

Article 77 of the state statute clearly states that no female may be in possession of more than 24 at any time. If you have exceeded the limit you will have to volunteer free CBJs until your stock has been whittled to the permissible limit.

Wish there was a statute for free BBBJs

Could it be that LE is worried about condom trafficking? I wonder how much time Nate Newton would have got if he was caught with 400 lbs of condoms rather than herb?

Wow, just crazy enough to be a law, but still crazy!

Obviously, if you opened a Condoms To Go store in NYC, merely advertising a special sale, say 2 dozen for a 25% discount, could be considered promotion of prostitution!

I usually have a variety with me, and a ton, depending on the length of the encounter. I have a purse with a hole that puts them where they're out of plain sight.

Last year, I flew quite a bit and there wasn't a problem with toys in my carry on bag. I flew probably 11-12 times last year and only once did they check my luggage.

And it wasn't for the toys although those have raised some eyebrows at times but generally, they looked as stoned faced as always. It was for a breakfast protein bar that I had thrown in there on a previous trip and had forgotten about it.

Once, they checked my suitcase because I had bought some attachments for my violet wand at a show in Chicago and basically they were shock cables. And when I acted slightly embarrassed, one of the ladies said that this was nothing. That they had seen worse.

Then she told me a few stories!!! These were along the lines of masculine gorgeous man has gigantic dildos and sissy clothing in suitcase. Wild stuff like that.

I've gone through security (many times) with bunches of condoms, floggers, hard leather paddles, dildos, vibrating eggs, tons of lingerie, etc. It's completely alright.

My question is more local with the idea of just HAVING 50-100+ condoms somewhere and possibly getting in trouble for it.

Hugs,
Elisabeth
