I doubt that you would call it "fine dining", but I am quite fond of Pancho's in Manhattan Beach.

Run south on Sepulveda from LAX and take a right (West) on Rosecrans. Pancho's is on the southwest corner of the Highland intersection, a few blocks from the ocean. Get there EARLY (before 8 PM) if you want valet parking (and there isn't much other than valet parking there).
Is Water Grill still there? I used to have great seafood meals there.

Mon-Sun 5:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Fri-Sun 11 am - 1 pm
Michaels in Santa Monica is great and the Chef/Owner is really personable.
Mastro's in Newport is a great place.
George Petrillis in Culver City is awesome as well
