Return Mt. Rushmore!

Since treaties are on a par with the Constitution as far as being the law of the land, I don't think a person can truly be faithful to the Constitution while at the same time ignoring treaties this country has made. Yeah, it would be an upheaval, and I don't think it is practical. But to ignore them is inconsistent with respecting the Constitution.

It's too late now. What's done is done. The whole world is full of countries that were invaded and conquered, basically stolen. Whether or not treaties were broken, may not be the central point. Did Ghengis Khan break any treaties, probably not, he just raped, pillaged and took over half the Earth.

Honoring treaties that were violated, in some cases, over two hundred years ago is similar to the demand for reparations for African-Americans to make up for slavery. I'm not for that either. It's not practical and it doesn't make any sense to punish the current generation for the sins of our great great grandfathers.
Apparently, the UN wants the US to return the Black Hills to the Lakota. If you look at the treaty, the Black Hills have always belonged to the Native Americans. That is, until the white man found gold. I guess the treaty said it would belong to the Native Americans "until the sun stops rising in the East, and setting in the West*

*or we find gold, whichever occurs first"

That first season of Deadwood was gold it's self.

One thing for sure. Yanking out someones eyeball will definetally take the fight out of them.

One of the best scenes ever.
