A NEW HOBBY TERM?

I will defend a provider when she is right...
I will defend a hobbiest when he is right...

Like what was already said, right is right...I will defend someone that I know is right regaurdless what 'social group' or 'side of the fence' they fall in.

I have several hobbiests that I will fight tooth and nail to defend, and I don't care if it would ruin my rep...because I know them, and I know they would never do anything wrong or to cause any harm to anyone. I know that my life line here is limited, and will not last very long, where as a hobbiest is usually in it for the long haul. If clearing their name causes me to loose my name, I am all for it.

Now with that being said, I also understand that some people can go way overboard in their rightous battles, but I don't like the idea of useing Joan the Arc as a term...and I don't know if a 'white knight' always means the gentlman is being a fanatic...I was under the impression that a white knight is a hobbiest that usually fights for the ladies when they need someone to stick up for them...but that does not always include going over board.

If the provider is on fire can we refer to her as JOA?

JOA is Joint Operating Agreement (common in oil & gas industries among others)

I vote against work lingo in the hobby...

So we call a gent that overdoses on chivalry to the point of being an ass when it comes to inserting himself in between a provider and another hobbyist a WHITE KNIGHT.

What would we call the female version of this type of person?

Perhaps a JOAN OF ARC?

Acronym: JOA
Slang Usage: "Don't worry about her, she's just being a Joan." Originally Posted by ANONONE

That pretty much covers it.

What do you think a WK is???
If you must create a term for such a thing, I vote for something a little less controversial. Mother Hen maybe? Just my $.02 thrown in. Moving on.

We are talking about when such camaraderie slides into something more unhealthy and twisted and the person in question may be acting in a way that even the person they attached themselves to might even be uncomfortable.

We are talking about when reality becomes lost on the person and while they think they have good intentions, the motivations are so twisted that they are actually doing more harm than good.
Damn, do we know such a person? Warn me now...
Oh I see now. Lol, I wasn't thinking in terms that serious. I'll take my little bum back to the kiddie pool, then. This is a little too deep for me. :P

Put simply, it is an individual (of either gender) that jumps to the defense of another poster without regard to the facts, logic or objectivity in an attempt to curry favor with the poster.

I could list plenty of examples but the moderation staff would get their panties in a bunch.
