Would you do it?

In my experience as a father, parents only exert a strong influence over our children until about the age of 13 or 14, mainly because they depend on us for their survival. After they figure out they don't have to depend on us for their survival, they are subject to doing things on their own that we don't always support or agree with.

Parenting is a very selfless, life consuming decision. Understand this a reason why some non-parents hold off on having kids.

The real question is: did those who said they would have done the same, really read the article before commenting?

If one is so quick to kill someone without thinking of the consequences, maybe one isn't the best example of a parent. That person might have a daughter who runs to a pimp. Especially in the bay area where for the most part, there are 3 kinds of people; hookers, pimps, and johns.
Why would you guys want to put yourselves in that category, and say you would have killed the man too?

I swear the herd mentality isn't going anywhere so....... well, I'm not elitist or cruel enough to say the rest.

People are more likely to understand your actions/decision if you say why you might act/feel a curtain way.
Otherwise, the people siding with the dumb father might seem like-minded.
I'm not sure what I would do I his position . But I believe I would try to think it out and attempt not to get caught. IJS !

The penalties for A&B vs Murder 1 are much different...

Beating someone within an inch of their life would be almost as satisfying...and would not invoke nearly the attention...and would leave a life time reminder both mentally & physically.

People are creatures of habit. They pattern. They are predictable. They are largely unaware of their surroundings. There is those times when there is no one else around...

This is written completely as fiction & I have never laid a hand in anger on a person in my life...I'm a pacifist....

A&B may sound satisfying and be less punative than shooting someone dead. but they'll just sue you. Our prison system is great at educating them on the power of clogging up court systems.

Even on a lot of clear cut self defense shootings, your life is still hell and you can take quite a hit to the wallet.

When, if this dad lawyers up he'll claim emotional stress. Not really cold blood, But i havent read much about this case and don't really want to.

paying someone to beat up someone, or asking someone to beat up someone is also very risky. people die, people talk, then people sue or go to jail and say ... wasnt me, that other guy asked me/paid me to do it.

let the law be the law, or .... well, people disappear all the time.

Cant make a parenting call. teenager are teenagers. Sometimes the parents are total fuckups... sometimes they did everything right. As a father it goes either way... i raised my kids each teh same way. But they all turn out different.

They'll sue who?

There were no witnesses...no one else around...I've got alibies out the wazoo...I was sitting right here in this noisy sports bar almost all evening except for an extensive bathroom break due to jalepeno overload...I have no idea who beat him to a pulp...

You're not thinking it through as deeply as you should budman...

I wonder out of the million or so in prison how many thought... There were no witnesses...no one else around...I've got alibies out the wazoo..

BUT "I have no idea who beat him to a pulp..." when you do know, and you asked them to, and there are witnesses that put them in a jam, and you honestly think they won't roll on you to reduce sentence? Who's not thinking.

and anyone can sue anyone, so EVEN if the DA doesnt file, doesnt mean you can't get sued. The only conspiracy that works is one where there's only one person.

The parents of a 17 year old runaway in San Fran apparently went to the police for help but were turned away. They were able to track their daughter's pimp and the dad shot and killed him in cold blood.

I know most would say they would have did the same thing. It's human nature to want to protect your kids. What would you really do?
