Unfortunately with smartphones and call ID, you GIVE a provider your number whether you intend to or not. I suppose one could simply rely on PMs to set up a date. In which case, that is highly impractical when dealing with a provider who wants you to call her when you arrive. Sure, you can probably use a smartphone and do all the PMing on it, but still very impractical.
If you don't want her to call, DON'T GIVE HER YOUR PHONE NUMBER!

I really don't have a problem with a provider calling me. My hobby phone is always off unless I'm using it for hobby purposes. If a provider calls when phone is off, it goes straight to voice mail. To be honest, I've never had a provider call me unsolicited.
