Chick-fil-A? yes, no, maybe

It's simply a First Amendment issue. It's funny how the anti- Cathy people have turned his viewpoint into a "message of hate." It is not a message of hate. It is simply his viewpoint.

The real message of hate is from the anti- Cathy's that want to impinge on his right to make his statement; to impinge on his right to express his viewpoint.

Cathy has the right to express his viewpoint just like the anti- Cathys have their right to express their viewpoint.

The "hate" comes from the zealot, fanatical fools who say that their viewpoint is right and Cathy's viewpoint is wrong. Some even base their views on the fiction of the bible.

Being right or wrong is NOT what is important. What is important is simply the right to say it.

The Bill of Rights was constructed to prevent the dangers inherent in any democracy.

The mayors and others that said they were going to ban CFA from their cities have all retracted their ridiculous, knee jerk statements. The Constitution does not allow us to use zoning laws or other laws to impinge on Freedom of Speech. There is no backdoor here. Well, you know what I am saying... Originally Posted by Mueller

local Govt CANNOT ban Chic-fil-A from opening up, just as you cannot ban a Pro Gay company from opening up..ALCU has already stated this Originally Posted by RALPHEY BOY

Not because of the cause involved, I'd feel the same way if they made the same threats against a pro gay company.
Mueller has it right. The only first amendment right at play here is when gov't gets involved. The mayors that did jump in have, for the most part, retracted their statements. Local gov'ts can actually go through with the ban but they must prove a SECONDARY repercussion from having the "restaurant' (I agree with milf amy FF is gross) in their town. They won't be able to do this so no rights will be infringed upon.

Sad part is that if you ask most of the people on line at the FF dump and ask them, they would say they are supporting 1st amendment rights that are being infringed upon by the supporters of gay rights, which of course is sheer lunacy.
As far as I'm concerned, he can say almost anything he wants, regardless of how stupid or wrong it may be. I'll just vote with my wallet.

Besides, their sandwiches have gone downhill in the last 3 or 4 years.

What the hell. I'm a lesbian. I only have sex with women.

That's not hate, I don't want to associate with loud drunks either but no ones telling me I have to do that or it's hateful that I don't want to be around them.

If businesses don't want to offer gay benefits they shouldn't have too. The companies that do started to attract more people so if they are staffed and don't need to they shouldn't have to and it won't effect how I spend my $$,

Had a #2 combo & upgraded to the large waffle fries for lunch. Not condoning or condeming, just wanted some chicken & waffle fries...
When he accused the company of giving money to hate groups, she responded, "I'm staying neutral on this subject. My personal beliefs don't belong in the workplace."

but the ceo beliefs do? looks like chick fila needs to appoint this woman ceo

Waffle fries are the work of the devil. No potato naturally grows like that. Waffle fries are contrary to God's natural order. Shun the heretics. SHUN! SHUNNNNNNN!

Besides CFA is all about religious right viewpoints so why would this surprise anyone. They've never made any secret about how religious they are or who they choose as partners and how them also being religious ways in to those decisions. Since when do conservative Christians vote for gay or transgender rights. I'm pretty sure being gay and christian is an oxy-moron regardless of what picture gay people who say they are Christians try to paint.

That's kinda the issue I find with all religions, the hypocracy and adjusting of it to fit their own agenda.

BTW...its hugely successfull even without Sunday revenues. I found this article decribing their business:

Chick-fil-A generated $492 million in earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization on revenue of $1.12 billion in 2011, PrivCo said. It added that the company’s 44 percent Ebitda margin was “virtually unheard of in the restaurant industry.”

The chain has the biggest sales per unit in fast-food, according to QSR Magazine. In 2011, the company generated gross sales of $2.9 million per location, outpacing the average unit sales of runner-up McDonald’s Corp. (MCD) (MCD) by $400,000, the magazine said in its August 2012 issue.

PrivCo said it valued Chick-fil-A at $4.5 billion using peer multiples of Oak Brook, Illinois-based McDonald’s, Dublin, Ohio-based Wendy’s Co. (WEN) (WEN) and closely held Wichita, Kansas-based Wil-Ken Enterprises Inc., which operates Popeye’s Chicken and Biscuits restaurants. The calculation factored in the company’s 3-year annual growth rate and Ebitda margins, the report said.

The chicken chain has a value of at least $4.3 billion, according to data compiled by Bloomberg, based on the average enterprise value-to-Ebitda and price-to-earnings multiples of four publicly traded peers: McDonald’s, Wendy’s, San Diego-basedJack In the Box Inc. (JACK) (JACK) and Louisville, Kentucky-based Yum! Brands Inc. (YUM) (YUM), the owner of the KFC and Taco Bell brands.

“It is a very impressive business story,” said Sam Hamadeh, CEO of PrivCo, in a telephone interview. “Whatever people think of the politics, when you look at how we quantify the amount of money they are forgoing every year by being closed on Sundays, you have to respect that.”
There you go they are doing just fine. The food is overpriced and they are closed one day a week yet they are kicking ass just selling chicken. Why is that, especially since it's really not that great and the portions are small for the price. I'm guessing because Christians support Christian businesses. Mr Cathy standing out against gay and transgender rights probably is popular with his demographic and regular customer base.

By the way even though it is privately held if it is a corporation they do have a board of directors. It might just be the two Cathy boys plus whoever owns the other third but most likely it is like 6 or more individuals.

Well chick fil a is priced higher so I am sure they make more money per customer than Mcdonalds. I am sure MCdonald's profit per customer is lower. Fil A also has excellent customer service. Mcdonald's trails that easily. Just visit your local McDonald's for proof lol

I never ever eat fast food period so I suppose in that sense I'm involuntarily banning them as well as McDonalds, Taco Hell, Burger King etc...

As far as their personal views. Aren't there more important issues to take up the cross for than a fast food chain owner's views on gay behavior.

The owners have just as much right to their views as gay supporters do.
I also don't necessarily agree with the perception that disagreeing with the gay lifestyle is tantamount to hate.

Victimizing gays or anyone else based upon their lifestyle or beliefs is indeed hateful but strongly disagreeing with the lifestyle is absolutely not hate. It is simply a disbelief in the lifestyle.
If one strongly disagrees with the philosophy and practice of Wica does that mean he hates all believers of the practice? Does an atheist hate all Christians or Muslims?

Of course I haven't followed the story so I don't know if he has indeed shown himself to be hateful through his actions or words. Someone said he has donated millions in support of anti gay equality. What exactly does that mean? Is he sending the money to support evangelists who merely preach against the lifestyle or is he funding skin head groups to go out and target gays?

Why is it that the minority gay lifestyle can be crammed down the straight majority's throats yet any opposing opinion or reaction to it is deemed hateful?
Gay equality also means gays behaving as equals. Gay pride parades, huge coming out productions and celebrity announcements doesn't sound equal to anything in the straight world I've seen.

I think the media sensationalizes that gays force themselves out in the open or its the extreme left gays.

I have many gay friends, I have had next door gay neighbors, I am doing business now with a Lesbian Couples, and not once not ever has anyone every said, ' I am gay you must like me and give me rights', in business it never comes up, in personal life it never comes up.. when a client says " god says I should buy this house' or 'gods plan was for me not to buy this house'.. I dont say anything, ( although I find that a silly answer) all I am thinking is when I am going to cash the check...

so not sure where this comes from...and who are these gay 'cramming down' their beliefs on me??

not saying you are wrong Cody , I have never witnessed the like, unless it was staged Protest typically on the left coast,
