OK I am definitely a newbie and I was kind of reprimanded about a year ago when I asked this but I never got an answer so here goes again. I LOVE LOVE LOVE DATY but I am afraid of getting an STD from it. I am of the understanding that the transmission rate of HIV, HPV, HSV etc is very very low with DATY...dental dams are not an option. Any thoughts out there? Does anyone actually have factual knowledge or experience regarding this? ThanksSo what about the mouth?

A study just published in JAMA (Gillison et al, January 26, 2012) evaluated more than 5,000 people for oral HPV. They collected a lot of demographic data to try to determine risk factors.
The results:
- 6.9% of people ages 14-69 have an active HPV in their mouth
- The peak prevalence of oral HPV infection is ages 30-34 and 60-64
- Men are more likely to have oral HPV than women (10.1% vs. 3.6%)
- Sexual contact is a risk factor for oral HPV: 0.9% of people who have never had sexual contact had HPV versus 7.5% who had ever been sexually active.
- The number of oral sex partners has a big effect on oral HPV. The prevalence is basically the same for 0 or 1 oral sex partner (3.5% and 3.3% respectively), but by the time you hit 21 or more sexual partners the prevalence of oral HPV jumps to 21.5%
By the way those who have HPV of the mouth get grey/white or red lesions in the mouth pretty often. What you may think is some weird bump on the inside of your cheek, or roof of your mouth could be a wart outbreak in your mouth. If a guy has obvious signs of HPV wart(s) on his penis and a girl doesn't pay attention and gives bbbj then she will contract it. She may never know she is passing this on to other partners when kissing or giving oral. Same thing with the guys.
Guys if you got bumps or red spots of any kind on your penis you need to get it checked out and get it treated. Don't shrug it off or think it is no big deal.
If you are going to play in this little Hobby you should be doing regular checks of your penis and scrotum.
