I assume that the reason the lovely ladies here offer only their time in exchange for compensation is that it makes the whole thing (arguably) legal.

If she charges you only for companionship, making it quite clear up front that there is no offer of more intimate physical activities included in the price, that can hardly be called prostitution. This (arguably) remains the case even if something more intimate should happen to occur, because that's just two consenting adults and there's certainly no law against that...as long there was no money for sex.
