Why is Obama skipping more than half of his daily intelligence meetings?

I actually wondered about this when the briefings got in the headlines during the Bush administration. Why on earth would you have a guy present to go over the briefing with you? Surely they can put anything in writing to the President. You would think that he has any level of national security clearance. Going over something orally is a complete waste of time. Anything important I want to read while I'm alone and while it's quiet. I wouldn't trust someone to summarize it for me as you loose nuance. I certainly might want someone to question after I've read it, but the entire idea of being "briefed" is foolish. If they're going to take time to write it out, surely the President can take time to read it instead of having some flunky tell him about it. As I read the article, and granted I just skimmed it, it seems that's what Obama is doing. Reading the entire document instead of having some security bozo just summarize it for him.

So he can deny knowing anything.
It cuts into his golf time.
He is too awesome to have to wade through all that crap.
He really does not want to know how bad thngs really are so he can keep a straight face while he lies to us.

The most effective strategic (not tactical) intel briefings tend to follow this script:
--A brief summary of "What, How certain we are, & Why you care". 3 to 6 topics max. No more than 15 min to read. Based upon knowledge of the recipient's key areas of worry.
--Recipient takes time to read and flags the ones they find worth discussing.
--Briefer expands the flagged items, tailors them based upon any notes, and then gives face-to-face brief as mostly a Q&A guided discussion.
Well from this story you might say Obama lacks intelligence, ijs.
