The enemy of my enemy is my friend?

It's funny you bring up Osama, because wasn't he born out of the same type of thing you are talking about? Remember the Russians in Afghanistan? We backed Osama and his "jihadists" against the communists and it came back to bite us in the ass.

So if you are criticizing this type of strategy....you can't just blame Obama, you gotta bring Reagan and a whole lot of other presidents in it too. Originally Posted by markroxny

the people in east berlin and russia were starving to death, and revolted against the government .. in 89 the gates were opened to stop a government revolution, and the people started tearing down the wall as a sign of victory

when Ronnie saw that he immediately made his "Tear down that wall" speech and gave himself credit for "winning the cold war"

he didnt win jack shit

yeah, Runnin Ronnie made his photo op speech 2 years before the gates were opened and the people started wrecking the wall ..

which is even a more inane reason for handing him credit for winning a cold war ...

Reagan the Soothsayer, reader of tea leaves, predicting the future ... hero of morons.

that better sport?

speaking of timelines, yeah Ronnie was the official president in 89 ... untiln Jan 20th to be exact.

In the late 1980s, the Cold War came to a dramatic end. The economies of nations behind the Iron Curtain were in trouble. People in East Germany, for instance, could see the prosperity and wealth of their West German neighbors. In Russia, there were long lines of people waiting to buy food. They had to have coupons from the government just to buy socks. Some historians believe that the trillions of dollars that both the U.S. and the U.S.S.R. spent on nuclear arms and conventional armies had caused the problems in Russia. There was also a lot of pent up demand for freedom in the citizens living behind the Iron Curtain

Accuracy people. The SOVIET UNION collapsed two decades ago. Romney was talking about the Russians which are not the same people. Don't you feel stupid now, you should.
