Unfortunately, that ship has sailed. I'm afraid there's nothing short of a threat of impending nuclear annihilation that would bring back Bobby Petrino. I'm not sure we'll ever be able to get a coach of his caliber to come to Arkansas again. That's why, after nearly 40 years of being a fan, I gave up on the Razorbacks and the people of this state when he was 'fired'. Hopefully there's always basketball...
Has anyone else noticed that since Ginger moved to northwest Arkansas that the team and the coaches all look tired and worn out? Maybe it is just a coincidence.

They were his players, his coordinators, last year and the year before. Yet the team consistently improved year after year. I don't understand your rational in claiming it would be any different this year (much less 4 losses).
I can sum this up in two words...NO DISCIPLINE!!! Jeff Long wa a dumbass for listening to a bunch of kids...they wanted him, they got him, and we are left with a pile of
Simple, all the talk about a better defense is showing to be very untrue regardless of coaching. Year to year defense has not improved and Jackson State putting up 21 in the first half would be your first clue. ULM would be the second, and every game that follows will show the lack of talent on defense not just coaching.
Bobby or no, the defense is that bad and that untalented. If Bobby was there the only advantage would be a better chance of winning a shootout in a high scoring game against the other team. That works well against some weaker teams but not against other teams with good defense.
The damage done at this point is easily 4-5 years for a decent recovery. If the next coach isn't a big name coach (which I would bet money it won't be) the damage may take even longer to recover.
People complained about defense (and even the lack of a running game) ever since Petrino got here. Yet we kept improving year after year. Heck, last year we held LSU and Alabama to lower points than any other team (and those were considered better teams than this year's). So the evidence doesn't bear it out.
Good correction to AR limiting points on AL and LA, not sure how I formed that impression.
But it's wrong to suggest that defense is the problem. The numbers don't show it. Every sector of AR's program this year is under performing compared to last year--not just defense. So to pin it on defense is not rational. Besides, you don't incrementally improve year after year in the SEC (and against major non-SEC teams) with your defense getting worse. That doesn't make any sense. The lack of Petrino is the only change this year. The fact he was so good, that his lack thereof is a testament to the poor season we've had this year.
The defense didn't show to improve last year especially against the two top teams in the country.
The offense however did improve from year to year. That keeps your defense off the field. That makes your defense look much better. Since AR wasn't able to do that against AL or LSU we see how much the defense suffered.
Now this season is no different. The defense couldn't stop Jacksonville State in the first half of the game. Or any other team for any point in the game.
This new defensive coordinator and the players are obviously having problems. One would be the lack of offense by the Razorbacks leaving the defense to get turnovers. Since the defense can't get turnovers or stops on the field the trend continues.
The offense has been the best defense the past few years. This year is no different, except now there is no offense because there is no Bobby.
I guess I had the impression u were saying defense was the sole problem. Plus, you can't evaluate the defense based on their game play against AL & LA....no one did well against them, they played on a different level than the rest of the country. There's a reason most analysts picked a fairly good chance for us to beat either AL or LA this year prior to the firing of Petrino.
