For what it's worth, Obama's official position is that he won't allow Iran to go nuclear. Personally, I think he want's them to get a nuke and use it on Israel.

In the Obama administration the first response wold be to deny it was an act of war and apologize for any mess the sinking of one of our ships may have caused.

The reality is that, while Iran would applaud the act, they would immediately deny any involvement.
