Phone Hell

I have refused to get into apple products on principle. Foxconn has had to put up nets to prevent employees from committing suicide at work, now they're being investigated for employing child labour. I can't in good conscience buy their products. That said, I've been thinking it's time to replace my dumb phone. What you said about your phone censoring what you access is enough to make me rethink the decision. I wonder if it's the phone or the carrier that's blocking access. Originally Posted by 2wheels2fun

That's a far cry from employing 13 yr olds on a factory floor.
You guys. Drama, drama, drama...

It's turning me on, TBH.

It all comes down to what you are comfortable with,, I like Android, but some don't. Hell if we all liked the same thing the price for it would be astronomical,,, it's a good thing this competition stuff.
I have to chime in on this topic. I am a techie and I like to have control over my phone. Apple is a great company and their products raise the bar for the industry, but I dont want them to decide how should I use their products. If one is comfortable with delegating their usage decision to apple they will love apple products, (iPhone in particular), but the moment you want something that is not part of apple ecosystem you will feel constrained and frustrated. Android been an open system, possibilities are endless when it comes to customization. So it boils down to if you like what apple decides for you you will be in the apple camp, else Android is the way to go.
Like u, I'm a techie too. But every know and then, I just want something that works. Gone are the days where I had free time to tinker with my devices at will. Life happens, things get busy (that doesn't mean I still don't get undder the hood on occasion). For the majority of people, that r not techies (like my parents), Apple's philosophy fits them much better. Too often the intimidation of tech keeps people from using it. So a company that tries to bring technology to the masses is a good thing. That doesn't mean the minority of us that like to tinker r left out, it just means we have to work a litte bit harder (for example it's trivial to jail break iPhones and have ur way with them).

It's ironic now that Apple is targeted for their labor practices when in fact their 'factories' (and I use that term loosely since other manufacturers use the same facilities), as bad as they are compared to western factories, they're better than most Chinese factories that manufacture your Android phones, windows computers, and just about any other electronic schlock u find at ur local stores.

I don't meant to be provocative, but do you abstain from buying stuff at Walmart, Target, etc.? What about electronic gear in general? Or r u just not aware how labor & environmental conditions r worse at non-Apple factories? Don't get me wrong, I do share ur concerns, and am trying to do something about it. For example, most of my clothing is now made from organic cotton and is manufactured in progressive factories outside of China.
I'm all about juicy, but this isn't the apple bottom type of reading I was looking for. Ha! Although I've never had the pleasure, maybe we all should see who can keep the sweet ladies mind of her phone problems the longest. No more dial tones but we can all still reach out and touch somebody!
YIPEE!!!

The iPhone 5 is sold out everywhere, and on a 30-day backorder, but I got lucky today – someone canceled their order for the iPhone five at an AT&T store in NWA & I GOT IT!!!!

I'm doing somersaults!!!!

Sidenote--this phone is blocking me from pornographic websites. I can't tell you how inconvenient that is.

I mean, seriously--what's a cyber-hooker without pornographic websites? I feel so lost! Originally Posted by Ginger Doll

I wonder what "incentives" Ginger had to offer the poor AT&T salesman to jump in front of the line?

Well, I didn't do anything except maybe have an orgasm when I saw the phone! I didn't realize how addicted I was to the iPhone. I shall never stray again!
