JOE, Not only are the videos you posted old, but NONE OF THEM ARE IN NEW YORK, NONE OF THEM ARE IN HARLEM, AND NONE OF THEM ARE OF LOOTING RELATED TO THIS STORM.

FUCK YOU ALL.
But O'bama says it will all be alright...

First reports of looting on Wednesday:

Other reports indicate folks are pissed about waiting in line for gas. Look for folks to start siphoning from parked cars.

One of my kids live in Greenwich Village while she's in law school. There is no looting going on. Lots of cooperation and helping of neighbors, etc. She was going to head to Boston for the rest of the week to stay with my other daughter but decided to stay to help volunteer in the neighborhood. You people have no clue about the real world. Where do you get your ideas of NYC from?

BTW, New York City in not just Manhattan, contrary to popular belief. That's only one borough. You cannot discount reports from Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island as if they don't count.

All things considered, I have to say things have been remarkably restrained. The looting has been small and sporadic and so has the violence. But then, there are armed cops and National Guardsmen everywhere.

I think the difference in behavior between this and other famous NY blackouts is the advanced warning and the weather. With Sandy, there was plenty of advanced notice, so the police were deployed and merchants could shutter their stores and/or guard them. And it is cold and rainy outside and difficult to get around. That deters thugs, too.

I take about 6-7 trips there a year for business and to see family. I don't even pack bags. I keep a bunch of clothes up there and an extra, old car to get around.

And I get the unfiltered reports of what goes on in the Big Apple due to the large number of extended family members and friends who are "on the job". If you know what that expression means, then you know what my background is.

Did you not see how the cops shut down OWS up here? Did your people not tell how the cops have been shooting people down in the street up here?

Fact is trips and extended family being "on the job" is NOT the same as living here. Any real New Yorker knows that.

You were wrong Ex. Dead wrong.

I understand that not all of NYC is Manhattan, but at least on the border between the East and West Village, things are really going quite well, all thing considered. Lots of folks helping other folks, etc. Not that much police presence, although certainly more than normal.
I grew up there.
