Great documentary on The Stones on HBO this month called "Crossfire Hurricane". Saw it last night and it was great.

Here is my list. I'm not wild about some of these bands, but sure appreciate their greatness.

The Rolling Stones - probably my all time favorite band
The Beatles - I hate their music, but they are undoubtedly one of the greatest of all times.
U2 - I actually meet Bono once - he's a short little fucker. Awesome group though. I have seen them several times in concert.
The Beach Boys - Again, I hate their music. But their contribution is with out questionably great.
Led Zeppelin - No doubt they are in anyones group of one of the greatest.
The Romones - The were true pioneers.
The Clash - They started the garage band movement. Hate their music though.
The Who
Nirvana
Greatful Dead (Hmmmm, are they really rock and roll?)

I debated whether or not to include Jimmy Hendrix and the Experience. Technically, there were a band so they should probably be included. BUT, you always think of him as a solo artist. If you include them as a band, then they would be on my list.

Yes, I love Van Halen, Metallica and others. I just don't think they are as important, and great, as some other bands.

Hindsight how could I leave the stones off the list. Quintesential. Also agree Ramones and Clash. And the Who.
