Dammit OSD! I guess I was following your lead and I did the same damn thing. Relevant in both places, really... Sorry for the repeat.for the post, but I really like.......
All this talk of ECCIE drama -- If ECCIE world is bothering you or causing you grief while you are away from your computer then maybe it's time to take a break from the hobby. Most of the "drama" (I hate that word) is escalated when hobbyist/providers involve themselves in issues/situations where there presence in neither needed nor appreciated.
Still waters run deep and no one benefits when an uninformed outside party comes along waving their hands and ranting about drama. All the WK'ing (hobbyist) and co-signing (providers) is counter-productive and irritating. We are all big boys and girls and I don't think any of us need a bodyguard to protect us during verbal combat.
Voicing opinions or ideas in open forum invites other opinions and ideas. If everyone is afraid to post then thats their problem. Every time I post anything I run the risk of offending someone; it doesn't stop me from posting. All this effort to protect the weak. Why? If they're too afraid to post then I doubt they have anything worthwhile to say. I feel strongly on various subjects and I am fully capable of defending my logic if challenged. If a member is taking the time to post an opinion or idea then they are responsible for the context of that post. If another member doesn't agree then it becomes a discussion (sometimes heated, and thats ok too) and we all have a chance to view the issue from 2 different perspectives. I enjoy witty banter. I like hearing the opinions of others and when they differ from my own then I admire the person who is willing to trade insight and explain the logic behind whatever issue is causing the controversy. I don't expect to be handled with kid gloves and I don't need anyone standing on the sidelines cheering me on. If I'm wrong on an issue then I'm woman enough to admit it. If someone doesn't agree with something I say then should I pout and snivel or retreat into hobby solitude?! I feel no sympathy for anyone who is "afraid" to post nor do I feel sympathy for those who recklessly interact and contribute nonsense but are incapable of defending the logic or reason behind their thoughts.
If you can't take the heat then stay outta the kitchen. Originally Posted by Sexy_Brittany

Or do you enjoy intelligent give and take, mental gymnastics, and other forms of mental jousting? Originally Posted by RockydocIntelligent is the key word.

Some like to test the patience of the moderators, who have a hard enough job to begin with. Others want to be bellicose and antagonistic. Hostility will usually be met in kind. Making fun of others and bullying is not cool. I notice when someone starts making cutting remarks towards another, even when it begins "good naturedly", nearly always results in someone being hurt. Everyone has feelings; it doesn't matter how tough you may be physically, or how tough you are mentally, or if you are a big boy or girl. Even men who have seen combat in some of the most gruesome places on earth have feelings. Frank Dux, the Kumite champion, who also worked as a spy, and killed many people, still had feelings.
Everyone longs to be treated respectfully as a human being. So, horse around,be witty, have a good time, and do it with intelligence and respect and I think many more will join in and the board will be a more interesting place. Think back to the 3 words thread that went for so long. Oh, a few got tired of it, but a lot of people joined in and had a lighthearted time.
I guess there will always be "hidden agendas" in some of the ladies comments. The reason they are here is to lure us in to dating them! There aren't many, if any ladies, on our board just to be sociable. I try to make positive comments about ladies. Some might call that "white knighting", but I sometimes say good things about ladies I haven't even dated, and even about some who won't date me. And I don't expect any special treatment for it.
With all the varied backgrounds that come together on this board, it seems we should have plenty to discuss without having "drama".
All you ladies and gents who are part of the silent majority, I double dog dare you to limber up your fingers and join in a thread!!!! Even better, start your own thread!!!! Let's all have fun on the board, and even more fun in the bed!!!!! Woooooohooooooo!!!! I don't know why, but I sure feel horny after writing all that!!!!!! My next date better be eating her Wheaties!!!! Originally Posted by tuckahoe
