Moderator Abuse of Power- who polices the police?

This is going to get interesting!!
As the honorable RockyDoc states so succinctly, rumors abound about unprincipled individuals shorting envelopes, offering verification or favored status in exchange for free appointments or risky behavior. Of course no accusations can be made that can be proven, but that the stories abound are at least some evidence. Especially since the wronged may be afraid to come forward and if they did would be unlikely to find a forum. That a community names the behavior may be enough. The fact that someone cares enough to say a thing is wrong is better than turning a blind eye. I believe that most men are good when found out, and if an injustice is but named, the conscience will do the rest.

There is no way to skin a cat the cat will agree to. This thread is merely informational, and any resemblance to any cat living or dead is purely coincidental.
Perhaps to start the discussion, the question might be posed: " Does a moderator have incumbent upon himself a responsibility to be of such character that others could use him as an example? Discuss. Originally Posted by Mr.Chan

Mr. Chan, it is more complicated for some of the victims of this kind of abusive behavior from a modtard.

A fucktard who receives abuse from a modtard can for the most part shrug it off and still participate in the ECCIE community.......a hooktard is different matter........you ask much of a hooktard, when you ask her to come into this thread and bare herself to everything that could go wrong for her if the status quo remains in place......you are asking her to commit ECCIE suicide......she is labeled in many ways that are to her detriment going forward.

You (local community) create the monster that may dwell among you by placing him on a pedestal. You allow him to reinvent himself without question. You stand as centurions when someone questions his behavior.

The hooktards know who and what is among you........they have watched you unwittingly protect each other to their demise for some time........why should they fall on their swords for you now?

I find those, to be much more interesting questions.

My .02 cents, being relatively new here may be wanted or unwanted, but it was mentioned earlier why no provider has came forward...I have talked to providers, new, and in the sport for a while, before this ever came up btw, and the consensus answer is "they are a MOD!!!" It's business 101 to them it seems, that a person that has been given a position of trust amongst thieves, so to speak, can make or break them if they were to come forward. Which also raises the valid question, who really police's the police??? It is preached to everyone on this site. Screen if your a provider, do your research if a hobbyist. In light of recent events, seems like the powers that be can, and should take their own advise on this matter to hopefully avoid any future misuse of ones position in the community...JMHO

I am reminded of a quote: "Who watches the watchmen?"

With multiple mods for each area of the board, I would assume that bad moderation by one would result in complaints to the others. As Still Looking says above, enough complaints and the moderator community should come together to review. If necessary the offending mod could be "asked to resign"... but why would you want give power to other mods to rid one you(all in a area) have in-powered. to many sheep here. stop being sheep. mod should be a demotion, not a promotion.
