Love scotch? What are you drinking these days?

Blended -- Chivas, Walker Black, Pinch
Premium blended -- Chivas Royal Salute over Walker Blue
Laphroaig -- tried the quarter cask, a little too smoky for my taste
Oban -- Excellent
Glenmorangie -- 10-yr old very good -- prefer the Quinta Ruban (two extra years in a port cask) or the La Santa (two extra years in a sherry cask)

I came into this thread to recommend some Bunnahabhain...and I love that it was mentioned in post #1. Hail fellow, well met.

Laphroaig is a li'l too smoky for my palette, but I appreciate the occasional sip--neat, of course. Originally Posted by SaytownFinest

Macallan 18 is the best but pricey. Highland Park 12,15 and 18 are my regulars.

I have a bottle of Macallan - 10 yo that was given to me in 1986. (matured in sherry wood) Never opened.
Anyone know where I can unload it?
A little off topic, but you may want to donate your old bottles (empty or almost) to a local theatre to be used as a prop.

Scotch (whiskeys) do not age in the bottles - the true flavoring and aging occurs in the sherry casks (for the MacAllans). Personally, I prefer single malts, MacAllans - twelve is good, eighteen pricey, but too smooth - my everyday sipping would be the MacAllens ten - it has an edge, robust flavor to it, sort of of like bourbon.
I just recently tasted and enjoyed Balvenie (with a lady) - have to love the sherry casks that MacAllans and Balvenie uses to age it.
Scotch, bourbon, etc. (like beer and ladies) are personal preferences/tastes - you find what you like and enjoy! Have fun...
Somehow, to be compared to a fine scotch or bourbon, makes me all tingly!
