HIV home saliva test for clients and providers?

Damn. That's a fucked up way to find out if you got some shit (is that the only thing it tests for?) when you think about it. I'd want a doctor to tell me over a home spit-kit. Now you gotta hope the other person don't rat you out.

Talk about blackmail potential (I want $1,500 a week from you...forever).
Interesting situation this could create.

What if one is newly infected it says positive but 6 months later you all are positive
I kicked around what some of you said that are really good points. For instance someone said what happens if the hobbyist test positive are they still charged for the session. I guess that would be up to the provider where a portion of the fee would be collected before the test or something like that would just be an idea. Maybe the fee would be waived if the provider decided too. There are options to work that out. Maybe the provider would be glad to know that while she ma y not have made what she thought from the session she got out of it with her life and did not rish being infected.

The other issue that is brought up is should one put the other on blast if they test positive especially if it could be a false positive. I would think the answer would be no and should be strictly enforced. If all providers were testing themselves and hobbyist then they they would catch someone trying who isnt being honest so there would be no need to put them on blast. If testing were as standard as using condoms then I would be suspicious of a provider that did not test much like we are now about one who offers BBFS. The alternative is they go to a provider that does not test which is no different then what is going on now and you know the risk. After the session no one knows what the other might have been infected with. I personally would prefer a provider that I know is testing negative then one that is a crap shoot. As far as testing positive and then the rest of us testing positive six months later? I'm really not sure what you mean? What I can say is this is not an excuse to stop using the protection such as condoms you use now. A test in no way changes the outcome of what is already going on other than a hobbyist would know if he is putting himself at risk or not and a provider would know if thay are putting themselves at risk by seeing a client. The only thing that the test does is provide more information about the risk which is no different than why many screen clients before they will see them. While I agree what others stated that we would almost rather not know the risk in many cases is true the reality is it defies logic. While someone said you assume the risk when you go to a provider what about your wife or SO that doesnt know you are going anywhere else. Sure in hell would decrease their risk of unknown infection. Food for thought if nothing else.

Maybe the way to handle it is for providers to offer testing themselves in front of the client as a service for a charge. That way the client knows they are not infected.

Thats the least she can do........
