Let me remind JD of one other thing. Were we to be attacked again like 9/11, Obama would be able to ram down congresses throat anything he wanted. We are nor a rational bunch when we get scared.

My thoughts on Bush II are pretty mixed but tend to fall in the category of "nice guy but in over his head" . . .

This goes back to his involvement with the Rangers but is amplified by the Cheney/Rumsfield experiences. (The "draft deferment" crowd always makes me nervous! Don't go into the "never served" because that's a much simpler discussion than the active choice to not serve and challenge your draft status.)
