I always wanted my own big girl version of the Red Ryder Carbine-Action Two-Hundred-Shot Range Model Air Rifle... Originally Posted by VictoriaLyn

There seems to be some interest. Perhaps someone needs to organize a monthly outing to a range. I am a member at most of the ranges/clubs in town and would be glad to help. Originally Posted by Spacemtn

Are you referring to an AR-15 or one of the many clones that are available? if so, certainly, I have 4 to choose from!!!!

i moved here from illinois home of some of the most restrictive gun laws in the country. ive driven by reds but never gone in. can you shoot real rifles there? the ranges i went to in illinois wouldnt allow more than .22LR to be shot. I havent been to a range in years but would love to start going again. (except for in phoenix where I shot a SAW. learned why army fatigues have long sleeves. those shell casings are hot....)

There was a guy at Red's South last time I was there with a .375 H&H. Great cartridge: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.375_H%26H_Magnum

Hey, *I* wasn't shooting it, anything more than about a .308 is wasted on me. I'm not worse with .30-06 than .308, but I'm not better either. .375 would probably give me an idiot scar with a scope; even just with iron sights I probably couldn't hit anything except, yeah, my shoulder, ow.

And hey, big game guys call the .375 a medium bore rifle, minimum acceptable power for dangerous game.

Real men use 50 BMG or they use nothing at all.
