The problem is that we dop not have a generation of youth that are willing to do physical labor to earn something.
The idea that everybody should go to college leaves a vacancy in the realm of physical labor, crafts, skills, and trades.
There is a shortage of labor because all too many "Americans" do not want to work and pay their dues. There is a shortage of qualified craftsmen and the positions are being filled by immigrant workers who are willing to bring what skills they have and improve them. They end up making every bit as much as everybody else as the cost of labor is market driven rather than dictated by the employer. This is one place where you get what you pay for. The idea that you are getting cheap labor is not really true. You have to pay what the market demands or you will have no workers.
Almost all reputable businesses will not hire illegals but will readily hire those that are here legally.
