The big American breweries continue to pump out their swill because that's what the majority of Americans want and consume. However, with the proliferation of craft breweries the US has gone from making zero good beers to arguably brewing the worlds best. This all occured within the last 20 years. Pretty awesome. Now I still find an English real ale to suite my taste best but I'm glad I now don't have to travel there to get one.
As for over priced, any professional sporting event does so to help with the exorbitant salaries those guys make. I say don't go, watch at home. The beer is better and cheaper. Originally Posted by trojantide

There are a couple of what I would call "mid-sized" breweries that put out a damn decent product also. Saranac is a real bargain, IMHO. A 6-pack runs a buck or two cheaper than something like Sam Adams and almost all of their products are pretty dang tasty. They even make a "Black and Tan" flavor that tastes surprisingly authentic. I'll bet that in a blind taste test you would pick most of their beers over a lot of others. They seem to have very little "bar presence," but they are very easy to find in Weggie's and most convenience stores.... at least in the Rochester area.

Let's talk about beers that are over-priced (and over-hyped) in general... not just at venues. My number one pick: Corona. This stuff is very mediocre, at best. The only place it is fairly priced is in Mexico, where it is considered to be a middling, every-day beer. My number two pick: Anything by Yuengling. Their products are swill. If you blind-tested these, you would rank them below Screamers, I am certain, but their marketing people are geniuses. My Runner-Up: Heineken. Yuck. 'Nuff said there.

We should start another thread called "Low-Priced Beer" that shows where the bargains are. My first nominee: The Coop Deck in Sodus Point. I was there for the first time this past weekend. It's a damn nice place, overlooking the water. Very clean and comfortable, with good food. A bottle of Bass Ale was $3.50. Most others were $3.00. If that ain't "low," it is at least "fair." These people are not getting rich. If I ran that place, I would raise every price by a buck, and probably no one except a few drunken regulars would say a word.

My drinks are sickly over priced, I prefer micro brews and imports unless I'm chilling in a dive bar I'll go as low s Sam Adams or yuengling that's about as low as I go. I drink bitburger, grolsch, strawberry blonde, spaten, sbc, a lot of ebc, fat tire is okay, railbender ale is okay... I mainly just stick with my crown reserve manhattens.

when i was stationed in norfolk..some of us soldiers got together about 25 of my closest friends... and went on a campin trip..thats when i found goble beer...and met the goble guys...hahahahahah it was 3 bucks a case...best beer hands down..till we found the beer tree...as we looked up..we realized some one had hung the more expensive beer by the 6 pack from different branches on this tree..woa..beer tree..best freakin campin trip i ever went on!!!!!! we sunk 2 boats..all sat around the campfire necked till our cloths were dry..then had to restrip cuz everyone was wearing everyone esles cloths! It was freakin resiculous!!!!!!!!!

I make my own beer and have done so for the past 20 yrs. Ice cold fizzy yellow stuff isnt beer - old mildew, coors light, etc. it has a resemblance to beer but ain't the real deal.

try any belgian style beer - lets say ommegang, a local upstate ny brewery, at 50 degrees if you want some flavor
