e-mail a provider a scan of your driver's license, or is that giving too much? I'm a newbie possibly about to dive into this for the first time. Talking to a provider they obviously need some info on you to screen and was just wondering if sending a scan of my DL would be a good idea or not. Thanks guys!

The only things us providers look for, is your picture (Is this the same guy I'm looking at right now?) and your Driver's License number for a quick background search (Is this guy a sex offender? Wanted Criminal? etc.).
Remember, we providers are also entitled to our safety and security. We are meeting strangers here, not friends or people we know in daily life.
Also, If I were a hobbyist, I would just cover-up and scratch out my physical address, DOB, and etc. on my Driver's License before sending it over to anyone else. You definitely don't want to set yourself up for blackmail one day and have a scheming provider show up to your home!
