Does anyone else hate the word "hobby"?

Thanks Charles.

I've been gone. I had a really rough patch to work through in life and wanted to lick my wounds in private. Thought I'd poke my head out of my hole and see if a shadow will frighten me back into it LOL Originally Posted by Lauren Summerhill

To the orginial question....words don't bother me. Actions are another matter. Give me a wanton whore that acts like an angel any day over some wordsmith-a-dee whose actions do not line up with her prose.

People, remember we are all Human Beings first and foremost. (Some a little salty'er than others!)

Thanks Charles.

I don't mind the term at all. It has a venerable tradition in literature going all the way back to Shakespeare.

I'm never very comfortable with any of the terms. Since this is a pretty intimate venture it is kind of hard to refer to it in any business term.

It would be a bit like referring to a guy I'm playing golf with as my "agent"...or my "consultant"...or my "employee". Hell, if I'm playing golf with him...he qualifies to be referred to as my "buddy" or my "friend".
What happens when things aren't structured based on a fee per time? Not everything works that way. I've had mistress arrangements where I was gifted but there was no set fee. And further, when said gentlemen are single, and not ashamed of me - when I visit them I'm welcomed into their life, not separated from it with a sense of secrecy or embarrassment.

Not everything works according to the formulas that we all like to pretend are the only way things function in this world. The classical world of the Demimonde does exist, it's just a taboo subject for some reason. Originally Posted by Lauren Summerhill

Welcome back Lady Summerhill. You've been missed.

I was raised in the "hobby" and with the words hobbyist and provider. Never felt this was a hobby for me. More like a natural need being satisfied. Provider seemed appropriate but if I were single and supporting a lady's lifestyle to the extent that she had met friends and perhaps relatives, then provider doesn't seem suitable either. I just don't know what one would say in an introduction beyond, this is my friend, The Lady Summerhill.
How about "wench"? Does that tickle any of the ladys' fancy?
