Government shut down

They were saying this morning that the military will not get paid. Instead, they will get IOU checks. Agree or disagree with what our military is involved in at this time, this is bullshit as well. Originally Posted by CryptKicker

Don't know about military retirements.

No, I didn't miss the fact that the House and Senate voted to continue military payments.... AFTER I posted what I had heard yesterday morning.

Awww the spin factor in motion, liberals crack me up, they speak about how people should be opened minded, but their minds are minds are closed, all this bullshit, misinformation, blame the republicans, hell isnt obama care, GW's fault, LOL. In 3 years I hope this board is still hear and these same people are still hear so I can here them whinning about how high their mandatory insurance is and what republican cock suckers the owners of the companies they work for are because they no longer provide them insurance. For the record, I hate both parties, but I also hate being told I have to participate in a mandatory health insurance scam which still does not cover everyone. I also cant wait to hear all the liberals screaming about the 45% tax rates they have to pay because this affordable heath care plan is not sustainable without the government pumping billions into it each year. But that will probably be GW's fault too LOL.
The Senate has not passed a budget in 4 years. Now, last I remember, Harry Reid is a democrat and controls the Senate. The republican led House has passed numerous budgets, none have been taken up in the Senate. Harry Reid refuses to talk with Republicans in the House, according to Obama. Just because healthcare is in the middle does not mean that it's the issue. The reality is that Obama has not seen a budget since 2009, and that's because Democrats who controlled Congress failed to pass one in 2010, and because Democrats have not passed one in the Senate the past two years under Harry Reid. If it takes healthcare to become a sticking issue to actually have Reid and Obama look at the governments finances....so be it.
Social Security checks will still go out. But some gov employees won't work/get paid until this is resolved. It's all bullshit, those republicans still can't handle the fact that Obama is an elected president and they will cut off their nose to spite their face. I'm embarrassed. By the by a lot of businesses will be affected including this one.
It doesn't matter if they are Dem, Rep, or Tea since they are all to blame for this cluster fuck. When there is this much disfuncion that a budget can't be passed let alone anything else then all involved carry the same amount of guilt for the outcome. From what I have seen yes the military still gets paid, but vets on the other hand get fucked over. Yes Social Security gets sent out, but good luck finding someone to take a new claim. Yes you will still get your mail, but good luck finding someone to get you a passport. Yes Obamacare went into effect, but good luck getting health insurance because the site keeps crashing. In other words we are on our own if we really want something to be done, so I say we just go in and pass a budget without these clowns and make sure they don't get a penny of it.
Another thought on this is every single one of them should be brought up on charges of treason.
There are enough Republicans in the HOUSE who would join the Democrats in voting for a clean bill to fund the government, but Boehner won't call a vote.

That is the bottom line.

There's really no point in discussing any of it. People are so irrationally bought into their bullshit team mentality, that they fail to realize that it's everybody's fault for allowing the government get to the point that 95% of what they do is abjectly unconstitutional.

The greatest danger to the Republic is paternalism. It is here, and we refuse to consider survival without it.

During the election Obama touted how this program was modeled after the Mass program the Mit put into effect. Shouldn't that be scary in itself, because the last I heard that program was bankrupt and required millions in bailouts from the Mass statehouse.
SS would have been solvent for a long time but both parties robbed it to balance their budgets. It is full of IOU"S

In 1967 LBJ and the democratic Congress passed a law opening the Social Security funds to the general fund to hide the cost of the Vietnam War. That is when SS was robbed.

The military is getting it's paychecks, grandma is getting her check, the VA is giving out the checks, and 85 % of government is working. I don't see a problem. In fact the stock market went up today.

Did you hear the one about the members of the Greatest Generation who broke down the barricade to view the World War II Memorial? The same men who came ashore at Iwo Jima, Normandy, Anzio, and Saipan are used to jumping hurdles. It didn't matter that the youngest is over 80 years old they showed why they are the greatest. The park police said that this will not be allowed again. What will they do, shoot them?

They lost the White House. They lost the Senate. The ONLY reason they didn't lose the House was because of gerrymandering. WTF is the end game on this? Maintaining the shutdown until the middle of the month and then defaulting on the debt? NOBODY thinks that is a viable solution except members of the Tea Party, or so it seems.

As to your point about gov. pouring millions into projects...no shit sherlock. That is what governments do. I know its all trendy on the far right to believe we don't need a strong federal gov. but we tried that before. It didn't work. Is there room to cut some spending, to make things more efficient? Sure of course. But the first step is to be reasonable. Or maybe the first step is to ADMIT you fucked up. I get the butthurt. I really do. But the facts are that the Republicans fucked up sooooooo bad that a black man got elected president. You deal with it. You man up and take your lumps. You don't come out on the guys first day on the job and say you will do everything in your power to make sure he fails.

The ACA is the Republican model for healthcare. It is the law and it is constitutional. Get over it.

Right now the blame game and finger pointing is going on. Let's take a quick look at that.

Republicans in the House have planned to shut the government down before they even got elected in 2010. They've gone right up to the edge half a dozen times since they took power, but were held back during the election year because there was too much risk to the Romney/Ryan campaign. Shutting the government down over Obamacare wouldn't have mooted if Romney had been elected or the SCOTUS had ruled in Republican's favor.

So, they finally got to shut it down. Republicans planned it out and executed it carefully, as I'll show. You should understand that the Republicans are the ones doing this and that the blame should NOT be evenly distributed between both parties.

Republicans sent a 'dirty' CR bill to the Senate. The Senate predictably stripped the 'kill Obamacare' portion of the bill and sent it back the House. The Republicans in the House are sitting on this 'clean' CR bill. It is their way out. If things start to sour, they can end the shutdown at any time by bringing it up for a vote and passing it. This was not accidental.

The Republicans then sent a flurry of 'dirty' bills to the Senate. The Senate's only way out if the public turns against them is to pass one of these dirty bills and sent it to Obama. Any of these dirty bill scenarios are political wins for Republicans. Republicans planned this. It was not an accident.

Republicans have carefully positioned themselves in a WIN or DRAW situation. They calculate that they won't lose much at all by passing a clean CR bill AFTER a shutdown instead of BEFORE a shutdown.

They also calculate that you guys are big dummies with short memories. Half of you will blame Democrats and the rest will forget by election day, November 4, 2014. So are you a dummy?

The next trick they'll try is to connect the shutdown to the debt ceiling deadline on October 17th. If things go their way they'll keep the government shutdown until then. If things sour, they'll pass a one week CR so we get to go through the whole thing all over again.

Democrats just need to let the Kindergarten Congress have their tantrum. Republicans will take to Fox News and the Sunday shows to shift blame on Democrats. As long as they are talking, they will be screwing up and infighting. We're taping the whole thing and planning for the next two elections.

What are your 2016 Republican presidential hopefuls saying about the shutdown? They're waiting to see what happens because they're too scared to take a position right now. Cowards!
