Well, this sure makes things difficult! :(

Destiny - As bad as this year has been for me I would gladly appreciate a turn in my luck and welcome it with open arms! lol I swear, this has been a bad year for so many people I know with break ins, car/motorcycle wrecks, illnesses, loss, devastation, etc... I'm sooo ready to wrap up 2013 and move on to happier times!
Sorry to hear of your misfortune. A loud obnoxious dog is a good answer to robbers. Your thoughts about the in-law are real creepy and dangerous. Be real careful. Hope your fortunes turn around real soon. Still looking forward to actually meeting in KC sometime.

Staci sorry to hear of your of latest misfortune. It sucks to have someone come into your home, and go threw all your things, then help themselves to what you worked hard to obtain.... A year like you have had certainly will test your outlook on life. I have a feeling that good things are right around the corner for you.

I found out today he lied about his whereabouts that day...he said he was in Texas, but on his facebook it shows he was in Texas 2 days before, then back in McPherson, Ks the day before. I think he found out I was gone from my house because I foolishly posted on my facebook that I was going to a photo shoot. I'm hoping HIS "check in" comes back to bite him in the ass, if it was him! Needless to say, I don't post when I'm leaving the house anymore, just to be on the safe side. I should have known better, anyway.

I've been robbed in the past, but it's been probably 20 years, or so, and I knew right away who had done it last time. The "not knowing" of who it was is such a scary feeling! I hate feeling that vulnerable. For it to be a total stranger in my house, omg, that just gives me shivers and I worry that they'll come back because they could clearly see a woman and a girl live here...and for it to be a family member or "friend"?! Well, obviously that feels pretty terrible. I don't know who to trust these days, and I hate it!

If you haven’t already, change all your passwords everywhere asap.

All:
Thoughts from a former electronic equip tech: Even a rookie tech azzh*** can do a lot of damage if access ids/passwords are found, or if a computer auto logs in to emails/websites. Or, if a smart phone is linked to emails, websites etc., that tech can simply use the phone to quickly and easily change the passwords for those and cause more havoc later, at their leisure. I would suggest for all, not just the ladies, that your phones (yes plural/all) use the password function and have a burn app installed. Most cell carriers have both as an option. And, your computer in a locked cabinet in a locked room in a locked house must still have a master password and probably secondary passwords on selected data. How many of you use a crypto program for banking and other sensitive data? They're cheap, but get a decent one. How many of you actually let your machine auto log on to things? (sigh). Apologies for a security soapbox but comments infer that critical business operations electronic data has been intentionally jacked. Last, does not “be safe” have many includable issues?
OMG!! Staci, I just read this!! Look, we havent always been bff's but I have a few extra tablets laying around my house, I'm worse than a pit bull or weapon, and I'm HERE IF YOU NEED A GOOD CRY, A DRINK, A FRIEND,.. OR JUST SOME SOME GOOD COMPANY FROM ANOTHER OLDER PROVIDER. -----I'M SO sorry about your luck. Last year when I was so negative acting towards you I was having a nervous breakdown due to some family issues I was dealing with (I still cant apologize enough for that.) and instead of taking the time off I needed or calling a good friend I took it out on everyone around me. So, I definitely know how bad luck can just show up on your doorstep UNINVITED and not leave! Call me! Same number. And I will come over in a jiffy. I hated feeling down and out on my luck so I know how bad it sucks. Please take care and stay in good spirits. Lets get together soon and have us a LADIES NIGHT OUT.

So funny you mention the shower thing. I actually was out of town when it happened and I remember coming home and feeling so unsafe, that I had to move. I took a shower at the house within a day of it happening and I was so scared that I knew at that moment I had been traumatized by the event and needed to get out of there asap. Within 4 days, I found a new house and was completely moved out. I couldn't even sleep in my own house and feel comfortable.

Hang in there honey! Believe me, I have been there and it's not an easy thing to get over. The first thing I did when I moved was got a security system and it's always armed! Even if I am just sitting at home. It does make me feel a little more comfortable.

Sending good thoughts and prayers your way!

Thanks everyone, for your kind words and support! This is a really scary time for me, and I have been traumatized by it, for sure. I am considering moving because I just don't feel like it's "MY" house anymore. Even with a security system I feel out of place here. I think that's another thing that really pisses me off about the whole situation, because this new house was supposed to be a fresh start from the first part of the year, a "do-over", if you will, and now it's been violated. Thanks so much to everyone for listening to me vent about it and share a small part of my RL world. It does help me to know that my eccie friends and family give a damn.

Hey guys,

I don't know what's going on, but I seem to be having the worst luck lately!
....They took my iPad and my computer.....now my phone won't let me access my email.... my website is down.... I cannot seem to get anyone from the hosting site to get back in touch with me. ..... my account was temporarily suspended from p411

and I have no clue why...

please call or text me! That's the only way I seem to be able to communicate right now. *sigh*

Thanks,

You probably had other personal information on your computer such as bank account and/or credit card information. Call all accounts immediately and notify them of possible loss of your personal information. Identity theft is not a joke. This can be beyond serious. At the least it is a lot of work. For the bank, I would put a hold on everything and open another account (at another bank if you can). They can take all the money you have in the account, and if a mistake is made the bank or credit card company can be hard to work with.

Kill all of your credit cards NOW and have new ones issued. You can work with both a bank and credit card company to look at the specific payments that you can reject or authorize for payment.

The Apple I Pad (and some Apple Computers) can be locked down remotely. There is a find my I Pad/I Phone feature where you can locate your pad or phone, if you have activated it. If you haven't done that you can still cancel your on line accounts with Apple and prevent them accessing your accounts. Call the Apple Store and ask for help.

Sorry that this happened to you. But you have to get aggressive with this; if you don't this incident can haunt you for years, and make your life a living hell.

You are a sweet lady. But now is not the time to se sweet. You have been violated. Fight back.

Love ya,

JR

Auto log on is a big lazy mistake for everyone. I have raised holy hell with one guy for doing it. He did it anyway. Eventually I had to fire him for not following company policy. He was talented, but pig headed about receiving directions. Too bad.

It is a pain to use the log in password for the I Phone, but then it is just a fast four numbers.
