How Long have you been a Cowboy's Fan

Dandy Don gave me my first autograph. Roger Staubach was my first messiah. I remember wearing silver & blue in Candleskick Park when Jerry Rice made "the catch" ('Niner fans are almost as big a jerks as Philadelphia fans). I broke a land speed record to get to our honeymoon suite in time to catch the start of a game (my 'Boys let me down).

Bum or Jerry, Tom or Waide, win or lose, they are my 'Boys.

my first memory was the year Roger Staubach replaced Craig Morton as starting quarterback. i believe that was 1970. i remember the Hail Mary's, Mad Bomber Longley, Dirty Dozen, Doomsday I and II. even 'No Danny No'. and of course, 'How bout 'em Cowboys!!!'. yeah, its been a good ride.

We was moved to Dallas when I was 6, my Dad was from Big D and a huge Cowboy fan, so inherently I was a Cowboy fan. Then when I was a sophomore in High School, our football team went to a local turf stadium to practice as it rained for a solid week and our practice field was torn up.

We get to the stadium to find another team on OUR field. We get onto the field and it's the Dallas friggin' Cowboys! Coach Laundry talked to our coaches, they had about an hour left in their practice, but said we could hang out on the sidelines. One of the most memorable hours in my life. Tony Dorsett, Ed "Too Tall" Jones, Randy White, Danny White, etc...

We fought over pens and scraps of anything we could find to have them sign. I have been a true die hard fan ever since. Still not thrilled about the Jerry regime to this day, but still a fan. Originally Posted by KohanaKoa

We would stand behind the goal post and shag the balls for the place kickers...

On a side note, even Dallas Cowboy's cheerleaders dig a Marine in Dress Blues.... I have pictures to prove it...

I never was a Dallas fan at all. I grew up in New Mexico and every one out there ether cheered for Denver or the Raiders.I was a Raiders fan. Then I got invited to a church function by some school friends and the Speaker that night was Danny White. He was a good motivational speaker and a good man. After that I stated to take a liking to the Cowboys. Then In 2004 I moved here to Texas and and I remembered an old saying, "It is a sorry frog that doesn't claim his own pond." I have been a Cowboys fan ever since.

I remember those mid 60's teams that lost to Green Bay in the Championship games 2 years in a row. The QB controversy between Craig Morton and Roger Staubach. All the great players of the 70's dynasty that went to 5 Super Bowls. Danny White leading the Cowboys to 3 straight NFC championship games before the decline in the 1980's. And then the triumphant return of the Dynasty with Troy and Emmit and Michael and Jimmie Johnson in the early to mid 90's with 3 more Super Bowl victories.

Now, after a dry spell, let's hope Tony Romo and our current team can return us to glory once again. Go Cowboys!!!

I have never been a Cowboys fan. Moved to Dallas from Minnesota when Dallas was 1-15 and heard all the "fans" bad mouth their team. Next year when they won it all everyone was a fan. The bandwagon jumping always left a bad taste in my mouth as does the arrogance that some of the players over the years have.

I dunno about that, xperiment. Maybe it's a difference of perspective but when I was up in St Paul back in 1984 the fans were very harsh. The '80s were not that good to the Vikings & some of the worse vindictiveness I've personally heard was flung at Bud Grant. He led them to 4 super bowls but the fans had a strong sense of entitlement. Maybe one doesn't notice it as much when it's your team that's declined. But as an outsider looking in, the Minnesota press & fans were very harsh. Worse than what I've seen here. After all the majority of fans here never lost faith in Tom Laundry.

When people ask me who my favorite team is I give them a long look and say, "Who's playing Dallas this week?"

Sorry. . .couldn't resist.

I've been a fan since I can remember. I'm young, and I cannot remember Landry or Schramm. The first team I knew was Aikman, Smith, and Irvin. I remember being a kid on the way home from church on Sundays and hearing the game on KVIL in the car. My siblings hated it, but I enjoyed hearing "first down Cowboys."

I remember the private school I went to had a Super Bowl party in the forth grade. I remember a fellow classmate the next year thought the Cowboys were going to play in Passadena, TX for the Super Bowl. I remember being in agony in the years of Carter, Leaf, Hutchinson, Testaverde and Bledsoe.

This is my team. I have been a fan as long as I can remember, through the good and bad times. I'm glad I was able to see history at the last game of Texas Stadium and then the opening of Cowboys Stadium.

I remember laying in bed listening to the radio when the Cowboys played the Packers at the Cotton Bowl in 1966 for the NFL title. The winner would play in the first Super Bowl Game. The Cowboys were driving for the win but a Dandy Don interception in the end zone ended the game. What great memories.
