RIP to my best cuddle buddy

I'm sorry to hear about your loss Stacy, losing a pet is damn hard. I'm glad he had a good life with you though.

sorry to hear of your loss sweetie!!
Sorry for your loss, Stacy. Pets truly do become an important family member.
Thanks everyone for the kind words. When you take in a pet, you know that losing them is part of the contract. But no matter how much you tell yourself that in your head, your heart is never prepared for that moment.

Thank you Dahlia for that link. It was a very thoughtful gesture. I am having Jake cremated and will be keeping his ashes so that a part of him will always be with me.

Poor Sam, my other cat, wandered all around the apartment last night howling. He knows his buddy is gone, and he is heartbroken about it too. Daisy, my dog, just didn't know wht to do with herself. She doesn't like seeing mom cry, that is for sure. At 60 pounds, she is no lap dog, but she is unaware of that fact and she thought climbing into my lap was a good way to cheer me up. Well, it DID work because it certainly had me laughing LOL

It was hard getting out of bed this morning without a raspy cat tongue on my nose, which was Jake's version of an alarm clock, but life will go on, and I am reminding myself to be grateful for the many years of joy he brought me. Again, thanks everyone for the kind words.

The last time I had to have a dog put down, I swore I'd never get another because of the pain of losing them. The house seemed so empty, but I no longer had dog hair to vacuum, poop to scoop or stops at the roadside park on the way to the lake.

Made the mistake of walking thru the dog pound and a little girl kept watching me as I walked up and down the cages. Ended up taking her home and in spite of the upkeep, best decision I've ever made.

So sorry. I lost my dog to cancer back in September and I'm still breaking down almost daily. He was the only being that thought I was the greatest thing on earth.

I feel your pain, it's heart breaking, the loneliness, the thoughts and memories, can never be replaced.
I have three rescued puppies from the pound, they sleep with me every night, they have learned where each ones sleeps, and will never take each other's spot.
I have never been without a dog most of my life.
I have had to put down some of my best friends.
When I go to the city pound to get tags, I just can't leave without looking at all the animals, if I could I would take them all home.
I spoil the crap out of my pets, because I know they are only here a short while, so I give them the best of everything.
Your love for your pets, makes me feel you will find a new friend, and you will love them with everything you have to give.
These a new friend just waiting for you.
I love your heart and you.
