Tariff Man and his tariff plan cause market plunges

Well, he was caught fibbing again

U.S. Customs and Border Protection told CNBC the department has collected more than $500 million under

Trump's latest tariffs. Trump has repeatedly said the United States is taking in $2 billion per day from tariffs.

CBP says the average $250 million a day was collected even during the glitch that impacted freight already on the water.

Tech is starting to feel more of the burn. Trump's chaos leads to more sell-offs.

The clown is blasting Powell instead of fixing his tariff debacle. And for the most part the markets have shown more trust in Powell than President Clownshoes

Trump tariffs continue to drive a volatile, weak market, with tariff headlines still front and center. The Trump administration is moving ahead with docking fees for any ships not made in America, with Chinese-built ships hit the hardest. The Sunday morning political news shows, with President Donald Trump's top officials, have become market-moving events in recent weeks.

Also... Tariffman said the following

he is reluctant to keep raising tariffs on China and may even want them to be lower to protect consumer spending.
No shit, dumbass. You don't have the cards to keep upping the ante with OUR money
Last thing the reserve should be doing when your currency is crashing is to lower rates, maybe if Trump gets his way and gets another unqualified yes man in as fed chairman, he can rename the currency as well, the US Peso.

I come to the sandbox for shits and giggles and the one thing that I keep coming back to is the old saying "America, love it or leave it" so many people want to complain about Trump and what he does or is trying to do. You have options to go elsewhere. Instead we have the left calling people "dumbass" and saying how stupid people are for voting for Trump. I'm sure Canada or Mexico will take you in if you don't want to be here. See how green the grass really is.

Unfortunatrly, Tariffman IS a dumbass and it's the right of every American to criticize him and his policies if they ao choose. You can also leave and head to Mexico or Canada if you don't like the speech of others, but that's not the topic or important

That said, here's something that is

Uncertainty has defined financial markets this year. It’s not going away because the source of the problem is the Trump administration.

Tariffs are the main financial issue. President Trump has sometimes backpedaled when the markets have plunged. But he and other members of his administration have made it clear that higher tariffs of some sort are here, even though they are unpopular and most economists say they are a mistake. The risk of higher inflation and slower economic growth, along with strained relations with China and with many erstwhile allies, now appears to be a fact of life.

Been plenty of countries who went this path including USA in 1930 w the tariffs/protectionism and the end result is stagflation. To assume that somehow this will be different this time around? Anyone who doesn’t have their ass up magas ass knows the answer to this.

Still, here’s hoping that Trump is truly the deal master and all of a sudden understands the USA isn’t a casino that can go bankrupt and start again. Of course he may want to keep the tariffs so he can increase those salt limits so the millionaires can get more deductions. What’s a trillion dollar between friends? I’m sure the rest of country won’t mind bucking up for everything they buy as long as it goes to a good cause like millionaire and billionaire tax cuts

Keep on raising tariffs.

What could possibly go wrong?

I would think that as goods either stop coming in or going out, that the economy could come to a grinding halt.

Once upon a time, the congress was the part of government that could enact Tarrifs. Today- the limp dicks of congress don't know that they could stop all this nonsense. And while a quick fix on spending and inciting some counter-measures to tarrifs might be to drop the rates, Powell is keeping that powder dry- as he knows it would be a short term fix to a long term problem. Capt'n Carrot Tarrif will learn the hard way as will those who support this approach. (Congress should have done a study on who's really got our imports / exports out of bounds on a % basis and done it legitimately;
I do go to Canada and Mexico often actually. But I'm not the one sitting here bashing the President every day as if it will make any difference what so ever in what is happening in the world right now.

As is true for many of Trump's policies, they have a purpose when applied narrowly, but he is incapable of precision. He uses the tools as a blunt instrument, without regard for the consequences.

We all pay the consequences. See that in how the markets have reacted. If you don't like folks calling Tariffman a dumbass, well, I can't help you with that.
