I'll point out some recent discoveries; the voter turnout in Ferguson was about 7% in the last non-presidential election....that is about 7% among black voters which is 2/3rds of the population. The white turnout was over 20%. Start to see the problem?

She's on welfare, because he's not around and not providing support, and he doesn't have a "residence" or proof of who he is, because he can't provide an address, and doesn't want to claim hers, because she would get arrested for welfare fraud, and he gets dragged into jail for nonpayment of support, so their best bet is to remain UTR.

You guys are taking too wide of an angle to get to the point, but yes, there is some correlation.

A lot of black youth today don't know about slavery, at least not in the sense that they NEED to know about it. The suffering that Africans and Blacks who went through it doesn't connect to kids who have cell phones and X-Box's. They're buried in the urban jungle. While it's still poverty, it's not the same atmosphere as country poverty. OTOH, I remember fields that my own mom used to pick cotton in. I used to ride by them on the way to school.

Here's where it's 'whitey's fault'. The TRAIL AND REMNANTS of slavery still permeate and manifest the current state of black ignorance today, again, in the form of a poor living environment, lack of education, and lack of access to things that would lead to progress.

In fairness, it's not ALL whitey's fault at this juncture. There are enough educated, well off blacks to create a better environment for the less fortunate. Of course, the problem with this now is that these well off, and even rich blacks, simply don't care. Sure, they help their immediate family out of poverty, but building schools and low cost housing programs is something they have no vision for. The amount of money they spend on jewelry, cars, and rims could easily be enough to change a neighborhood.

$1M towards new jewelry OR towards fixing up 10 houses in the neighborhood.

You'd think AT LEAST after the first couple of years of splurging, that this would be a no-brainer. And charity donations is a tax write-off. Jewelry ISN'T. See that? They're too dumb to know that. Even scrubs in the NBA make $10M a year, so the money's there. But they gotta get those rims and themselves a 9-bedroom house (living alone, rooms filled with clothes and arcade games).

This is the first age where blacks REALLY have 'the best opportunity' to fix their conditions, but the education and AWARENESS is lacking. They can't see beyond 3 feet in front of them (short-sighted).

So, it's not ALL on whitey. Some, but not all. Whitey still makes us overpay for everything and create laws and loopholes that does no favors to the have-nots. Can't let them off the hook completely.

Except the standard of living for blacks in the cities was higher in the 1940s, 50s, and 60s. I'm not talking about civil rights at this moment, I'm talking about education, businesses, arts, and family lives. There were mothers AND fathers at home and young men did not dream of being pimps, hustlers, gang members. Something about the 1960s and the fight for civil rights poisoned the black community. They got their official recognition but they got something else. They got a political party that was willing to provide a slow acting poison in exchange for money and votes. Instead of the same standard that was used for mainstream America (white America if you want) a new lower (black) standard was set. The black communities across the country started living down to that standard. Instead of being inspired by people like King, young black men were taught to get payback (like Jackson and Sharpton) from Whitie. The younger generation was watching them and on it goes. This has less to do with slavery and more to do with entitlements and government largesse. The black community has gone downhill after making so many advances.

This is all a very interesting discussion on fatherhood, slavery, baby daddies, 14 year old welfare moms, etc..........

My argument is we aren't far enough, AS A WHOLE, removed from slavery. Most (let's say many...I don't know the exact number) blacks live very poor. The main cause of that is ignorance. Some of it is self-inflicted. A LOT of it is systematic. If you don't give people access to better living, then you're a detriment to their progress. Some of that lack of access is intentional. With more poor people to take advantage of, there's more profit for 'the man'.

Keep 'em dumb, keep 'em poor. Keep yourself rich. Keep yourself in control. Very similar to slavery, where slaves weren't allowed to read or write. Keeping them dumb kept them from formulating plans to escape (that and big ol' whips, chains, and shotguns). Slavery has taken on modern forms, but it still exists. Slaves were allowed to 'freely' move about the plantation, but don't be gone too long or huddled in a way that looks like you're up to something. 'Massa' might get the wrong idea.

Even now, every black group that tries to upstart to better its people gets destroyed/disbanded. Black leaders who get 'too far out of line' are assassinated. All it takes is an idiot with nothing to lose to be paid off by a politician or other black hating groups to pull a trigger. Even dumb blacks can be bought off to kill (Malcolm X and Huey Newton killers were black) black leaders.
