We've Flatten The Curve. It's Time For Texas To Move On.

Believe Trump mentioned that and Dr Birx confirmed it. She also tossed out this tidbit yesterday.
I see a lot of men in the audience today, I just want to remind them about the importance of health care. Of the male-female ratio, 56 percent of the people who are tested are female, 16 percent positive. 44 percent male, 23 percent positive.

I'm not sure what to make of it, but maybe the moral of the story there is that the wifey should be the one to go out in public to pick up hubby's beer and some groceries - for the common good of the team. Besides, math is math. I could be wrong, but that's what I heard. Originally Posted by Why_Yes_I_Do

Men do not seem to be adhering to the safety precautions as much as women. When I venture out among the public these days, I would estimate women wearing masks in about a 2-1 ratio over men. Or it could be more men are out in public than women, as you suggested. Again, see second sentence in point 1.

WYID - I do not think your logic holds - assuming the numbers from Dr. Birx are correct - and generalize to the population at large -( always a dangerous assumption) - One would be seeking the antibody positive individuals to go out and shop - as they are not infective or infectable any more.

Men - .44x.23 - 1.01
Women - .56x.16 - .89 ( decimals rounded) .

not a lot of difference - and I am not doing a t test for statistical significance. .

Self critique - assuming the general population is 56 v 44% gender split is not a valid assumption - it is actually 51% female.

Women 51 x 16 - .816
Men 49 x .23 - 1.13. predominates in favor of men.

however - unlikely to be a valid extrapolation.
For the reason - What happens when Al Bundy tells Peggy to go to the store and pick him up some beer??????

After Al recovers from his orchiectomy, he is going himself.

SR - u have painfully confirmed the point that liberals have no sense of Humor!

ExNYer - exponential depends on the items and scale on the X and Y axis.

The number of new cases each day is not growing exponentially - it is not much different than the day before, and it actually went down.

(9353-8262) day before yesterday = 1091 cases
(10,230-9353) yesterday = 877 cases

Anyway, some rural counties have virtually no cases - they should at least be allowed to decide for themselves not to commit economic destruction.

Perhaps I didn't explain it properly so I apologize. In my mind I was thinking of the number of new cases each day, and to me exponential increases are typically shown on a logarithmic scale.

Gnadfly's larger point is we do not have a NYC style disaster.

Whether I was right or wrong with my terms and description, Yssup Rider is still a faggot. That is a certainty. Originally Posted by friendly fred

typical insults when someone lays out facts you don't like.

everyone has been screaming that this week and next are THE critical stay home, social distance weeks. the Science tells us that. so many weak people on this Forum, who can't be bothered to restrict their movements.. impatient that the virus is still attacking.. you don't want to be bothered with "rules".. "let's just go back to normal, I'm so tired after 3 weeks".. whining babies.

I actually believe the Doc was simply making a point to men to keep up with their health in general and attempted to use Covid data to make a relevant point. Would anyone have listened to her say 6 months ago if she randomly showed up one day to make the point that men should see their doctor regular during a random presser with a limited audience? Worst case, she was an opportunist, delivering a rational message and using some 'extra' leverage to make the point.

In the way of reminder; the current guidance is: if a family member contracts the Chinese virus from Wuhan, China, all family members stay home and away from everybody else. Frankly, I don't see most Americans with the supplies or knowledge to whip up an isolation room in their own house. It's totally doable, but unlikely. So their advise stands as a practical matter.

The reason a grocery cart is so large and has wheels is so you can fill it with beer and load some groceries on top of the beer. Serendipitous, more men are talking (at least thinking) about men's health and their family's health - and that's a good thing.
