no one merchandises to lose money.

unless you think a 24 pack of beer only costs 3.49 to make and the markup is 5 X the typical list price?

this is all about product dumping at a loss to get rid of "toxic" inventory. Originally Posted by The_Waco_Kid

That's the dirty little secret. They're still profitable.

They'll survive even if they don't apologize. The folks further down the chain will eat the pain. They'll trim a bit of fat (layoffs) with some strategic restructuring and VSP's. Call it a day.

Bud Light might be #1 in the U.S. but it's a drop in the bucket on AB's annuals. They had $14.2 billion in revenue last quarter.

They were already in an interesting position as the segment was shrinking and Mexican brands were gaining ground.

The store gets paid on all sales. The distributor gets paid on all sales. AB gets paid on a sales. AB pays out a credit over time, but only on some sales.

It's marketing. Every person who buys a case is eligible. Most of those folks don't even use coupons let alone a rebate form. Every person who buys and doesn't redeem effectively offsets and may pay some forward. AB wins. Every person who buys 2 cases offsets and pays it forward. AB wins.

And you know I'm being generous on the 35% in this segment.

I think they should be sitting around $55 to $56 per share right now. They're over $58.
