'Nobody imagined it would go on this long': Bud Light sales continue to plummet over Mulvaney backlash

The controversy, now nearing its third month, has turned off a broader customer group than just those who characterize themselves as conservatives.

Sales of Bud Light continue to plummet, reflecting ongoing backlash to the brand's decision to hire transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney as a spokesperson.

According to data cited by the beverage industry trade publication Beer Business Daily, sales volumes of Bud Light for the week ending May 13 sank 28.4%, extending a downward trend from the 27.7% decline seen the week before.

.
AB InBev shares have fallen more than 10% since Mulvaney's social media post went live. In a note to clients published Tuesday, JPMorgan analysts said that even if the decline in Bud Light sales stabilizes, "We believe there is a subset [of] American consumers who will not drink Bud Light for the foreseeable future.”

Now Target is freaking out over a similar response with their stores.

Leave the wants of your customers up to them don’t push your wants on them, this isn’t complicated.
I see North Face is having issues

You have to question the leadership of these corporations. It seems poorly run companies ass kissers got to the top not what’s good overall for the company people.
... Target was already in trouble before this.
Increased prices for grocery items and of course
lack-lustre sales numbers.

Can they ride out this "pride" storm without
a big sales drop? ... Or are they in serious
trouble come end-of summer "back to school"
shopping time?? ...

Which-ever the case - Target surely aint
sellin' much Bud Light.

.... "Go Woke - Go Broke!" ...

When you can't sell the tranny piss beer at $3.49 a case, how about giving it away for free. When this fails, will AB start paying people to take it off their hands?

They are obviously doing this because:

1. It is too expensive to have the tranny piss beer shipped back to them
2. They want to stop the erosion of market share even more

Giving away your product for free can temporarily stop a collapse in market share, but it's very, very expensive.

Giving out free or discounted beer is the base-level lever.

You know that if they were panicking that there are at least 3 other levers to pull just on the merchandising side.

You can't think of any other reasons for this particular move?

Even the distributor's are panicking

"Not Our Beliefs" - Bud Light Distributor Sends Out Public Plea to Bring Back Customers

A Bud Light distributor in Alabama issued a public plea to bring back customers who boycotted the brand after it produced a can with transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney’s face.

Steve Tatum, with the Montgomery-based Bama Budweiser distributor, deployed a radio advertisement for several area stations, pleading with customers to purchase Bud Light again.

In April and during the first week of May, sales of Bud Light were down significantly, while sales of other Anheuser-Busch products also dropped amid the Mulvaney backlash.

“We too at Bama Budweiser are upset about it and have made our feelings known to the top leadership at Anheuser-Busch,” Tatum said in the ad, according to multiple news reports.

One of the distributors in the 10 states that have the "free" case.

Not surprising why the rebate is higher there than elsewhere

at this point i wonder if Bud made a public statement acknowledging the ad and the promotion was a mistake would have any effect at all. their strategy seems to be "do nothing, admit nothing" and hope it blows over. so far it hasn't.

in a few years when all this blows over it'll be discussed in college marketing classes as "what not to do"

If they publicly repented and derided the trans agenda their sales would skyrocket. They won’t.
