I meant someone else other than Obama plus he's only half-black. Anyway, I take that back, probably never since the black population will decline or not even exist in 100 yrs. The fastest growing demographic group are the Hispanics and both the white and black populations are declining in numbers except for interracial groups. So you will definitely have a Hispanic president within the next 40 yrs. Get back to me in 100 yrs. Originally Posted by kingorpawn

This is the reason why African-Americans, and no other minority, are now featured as credibility icons in insurance commercials, and every other kind of Madison Avenue product which relies on trust.

If I were hispanic, in particular, I would be chagrined that so many young hispanics dress, speak, and comport themselves to African-American hip hop culture rather than their own.

These aspects within the popular culture explain why individuals like Obama and Cain are automatically granted such credibility......which later is shown to be undeserved.

It is that fact the every black kid wants to be the next NFL or NBA superstar or the next rap star that keeps them in poverty because only a very small percentage ever make it and in the process disregard a good education in the hope of becoming rich and unfortunately, they have nothing to fall back on except dead-end jobs, crime, etc. That's the problem with the black culture and until they changed that mentality that not sports or music or entertainment, but a good education gets them out of poverty they'll continue to stay at the bottom.
Hispanics do not copy African-Americans. They have their own culture.
Being Spanish, I have black, white, Asian and Hispanic (Mexican) friends. I've had this discussion with them. In 40 yrs, there will be 100 million Hispanics with maybe 40 million African-Americans. Most of the African-Americans will be old. You have more single black mothers than married black mothers. The black men are not taking responsibility for these kids. Obama even said that. Another reason they can't get out of poverty. They are becoming irrelevant. Obama said earlier in the year that the future of the country will depend on the Hispanic population. They are the new Baby-boomers. Hispanics are moving up. In Texas elementary schools, Hispanics are the majority. And I can go on and on. I understand your argument and I agree with your last statement, but that's about it.

And furthermore every time a successful, powerful, credible African-American is featured in these roles [Dennis Haysbert] they are always very dark skinned, whereas if they're depicted with a spouse she's ALWAYS lighter skinned than he is.

There are no hispanics depicted in the media [advertising or anywhere else] in this role of credibility.

Furthermore when Hollywood wants to depict someone in senior authority in Federal law enforcement or the like they WILL ALWAYS CAST MORGAN FREEMAN, or some other dark-skinned African-American...usually with an immature white junior officer in tow....

And as for the depictions in Hollywood of Presidents being African-American - they were everywhere in the last few years.

You wont find any hispanics depicted in similar roles.

Hispanics probably outnumber African-Americans now, and surely will in the future, but the ROLE OF CREDIBLITY assigned at this time to dark-skinned African-American males because of their dominance in sports and hip hop will cause African American politicians to have an edge over everyone else.

In simple electoral terms however....

Obama would never have been nominated in 2008 if he weren't black.
It was the 90% black turnout in the primaries which was his edge over Hillary Clinton. In every state where their vote was otherwise split evenly the black vote for Barak Hussein O. gave him the nomination.

This is the "urban strategy" which David Axelrod used over and over again in cities. He would find a black candidate which was acceptable enough to non-blacks so that the vote was split, and then the black 90% vote for the black candidate would sinch it.

What I wonder though is this....

If it's acceptable for someone to vote FOR a candidate merely because he's black, or white, or whatever,
then why's it wrong to vote AGAINST some one for the same reason?

Am I wrong if I suggest that Obama was elected BECAUSE of racism? Could it be that the 90% vote for Obama that supplied his victory is nothing more than racism?

Does the election of America's first black President mean anything beneficial about racism as is commonly claimed?

I've gone to several and all I see is Caucasians and Hispanics. why so few African-Americans? The only time you see a lot of African-Americans in the theaters is when the movie is about African-Americans. Hollywood doesn't care about appealing to them. How many African-Americans do you see at a NFL or NBA game? White and Hispanics are the majority of the people in the audience. Hispanics girls are right behind Caucasians girls going to college. I can go on and on about all the examples about how Hispanics are surpassing African-Americans, but that's going to take a while. African-Americans are becoming irrelevant. That's just the way it is. I've seen plenty of commercials with Hispanics. The country is taking notice and shifting their focus on the Hispanics.

Hispanics will not decide elections like blacks do because:

Unlike blacks the latinos do not vote 90% according to race alone. Latinos split their vote among Republicans and Democrats, liberal and conservative, and so forth according to their beliefs. Whereas black voters vote 90% for whoever the black candidate is [no matter what].

For example in Florida the hispanic vote is 90% Republican because of the right-wing Cubans who fled from Castro, whereas in south Texas latinos are probably 70-30 Democrat/Republican [thanks to Hippo Garcia, my personal hero].

I don't know of any Hispanic that sees African-Americans as heroes or think they're cool. I find that amusing. They are at war with each other. I do believe the media and Caucasians do try to appease African-Americans. Who wants to see a particular group of people as heroes or as being cool where the majority leave in poverty. African-Americans have the highest unemployment. Both Caucasians and Hispanics will see an NFL or NBA game regardless of what race the majority of the players belong too. If all the players were white, the people (white, Hispanics) would still go watch the games.
