You're only taken advantage of when you allow others to take advantage of you. Any maintenance Man I know, would be thrilled to help me out, without expecting a pound of flesh in return. So, it's a win win situation. I'll help a lady in a New York minute as opposed to sit and watch while a gent might take advantage. Can't say that for everyone on the board. And of course, offer to tip and a cold drink......I assumed she'd think of that on her own. I always have when faced with such, but they never took money for doing such for a lady. Bartering only works/matters when the ladies want to do it, i.e. she needs a $1,200 job done for $250.

She doesn't want to pay the $1,200, so she suckers some guy(s) into a runaround process, hoping to leave him hanging after he saves her $1,000 that she didn't have/want to spend.

When the guys want to barter, we're being 'cheap bastards'.

And it never changes.....the guys are screwing the ladies n vice versa. All is well and as it should be, in the land of ECCIE! Good to know!

Do note, just for the record, bartering is taxable income for the value received. If you do it a lot or for big ticket items your reported income cannot support and you get audited, the IRS can and will go after you for all that unclaimed income plus interest and penalties.
