No, he deducted it a long time ago, but only up to 25% of his adjusted gross income during the years he was funding his foundation. I think. Or that's how someone told me tax deductions for foundations work.
That said, although I think he's misguided on climate, I'd rather see Bill Gates spend his own money, for humanitarian causes and to invest for profit, rather than have the U.S. government take it and waste it. Gates will use the money much more wisely than Washington.
