It baffles me how much of a hard-on Conservatives have for the Police state in the U.S.

A lot of them are small government types, but for some reason very reluctant to criticize President Trump and big government Republicans on any issue. Some may be confused, and more may be thinking about lessening the damage -- if Democrats sweep the election then the federal government is likely to become even bigger and more screwed up than it is now.

I recently saw the movie version of Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged. My impression was it is an Authoritarian's wet dream. Of course the book is always better.
