Australia election result

... Bloke don't got any choice... Needs to play to the Liberals,
'cause "WE" have all the right ideas... But Morrison went Hitler
on the people... Like the droob he was... Played to the wrong
coalition and shit on me fellow Liberals.

Not unlike what Biden is doing here to liberals and conservatives.

Are you really engaging with Salty’s (Google) search in this thread?

If we’ve learned anything, it’s that he’s never been to Australia, let alone grew up there.

It’s a ruse.

And poorly done at that.

Can't tell whether Tiny is fucking around or being serious. If he is serious, he is even more gullible than I thought.

I hope he is not that stupid, but if so, whatever. It's not like he will be alone with his stupidity in this forum if he is actually being genuine and not just being facetious.

To believe Bozo the hillbilly clown is actually from Australia is about as believable as me actually being Lucas McCain or any other bullshit fictional TV character in RL. LOL

As Yssup might remember I questioned whether Salty was really Australian when he first reappeared here. I think he is. The Liberal party is the main right of center party in Australia. And his comments about Morrison, the PM or ex PM, are exactly what you’d expect from a “Liberal” who dislikes COVID restrictions.

I thought I had him once with a couple of phrases that sounded to me a lot more English than Australian. But a little Googling showed I was wrong.

Greenslide: Climate Crisis Spurs Green-Labor Win in Australian Election Over Pro-Coal, Right-Wing PM

https://www.democracynow.org/2022/5/...climate_change

AMY GOODMAN: And then explain the term “teal.” Blue-green?

TIM FLANNERY: Oh, well, yeah. Sure, yeah. Well, blue is the color of the conservatives in Australia. And if you take blue and mix a bit of green with it, you get teal.

AMY GOODMAN: And when you say “conservatives,” conservatives are Liberal in Australia?

TIM FLANNERY: That’s right. I’m sorry. I mean, it’s terribly confusing.

AMY GOODMAN: And Liberals are conservative.

TIM FLANNERY: Exactly. The Liberal Party is our conservative party, so it’s our equivalent of the Republicans. Their color is blue. But the teals, although they represent fiscal responsibility and so forth, they really care about climate, about accountability within the Parliament and anti-corruption and so forth, and about equity, gender equity. So, teal was the right color for them.
... Hee Hee! ... So we see what happens when some
o' the lads here are called out on their-own contradictions.
They attack me heritage - which would be one thing - but then
insult their mates who speak up for me. ... Poor form in any case.

No worrys - it seem that every odd-year or so I need to surely
remind me followers on not just here, but on other sites of
a few things:

We Australians don't got accents much-any. Just some colourful phrases.
And we surely don't goff-on in every bleedin' sentence when speaking.

I do it for the simple reason that being Australian here now in
America is different then the other how-do-ya-say "ethnic groups"
of citizenry. Look of all the people you know-of, be it Irish,
Polish, Italian, whatever... But when people hear that I'm
Australian - they expect me to "sound a certain way"...

So I mainly do it on here for effect.

... But let's not forget the JUDGEMENTAL people here when
started posting here 6 or 8 monthes ago... I WAS ACCUSED
of being 3 or 4 different lads - someone who came back
with a new persona - like the lot o' you lads do.

How can Yssup be Hoehummer when I'm surely supposed to be Hoehummer??
It took Bambino and few other mates to actually set you sorry lads
straight about things - and that I'm the real deal.

That's all I'm gonna say about me-own statures. ...

OK, all kidding aside, the HoeHummer thing was an inside joke with Yssup. Sorry, you were collateral damage, and apologies for the disrespectful reception. You can see what was going on in this thread if you're so inclined,

And thanks for your thoughts on the election. I wonder if the Liberal/National base failed to turn out because they were thinking like you.

Why the fuss about Salty playing an Australian....or perchance a real Australian ?
This supposedly national political forum needs all the help it can get.

People get paid millions of dollars to pretend they are someone else. Johnny Depp, for example.

Raymond Burr playing Perry Mason. Rock Hudson. And they didn't even have to come out of the closet.

Leonard Nimoy did such a good job of playing Spock that a lot of people still believe he is Spock. (Republicans mostly, the ones that believe in conspiracy theories).

I'm still not convinced. If you read or listen to speeches as much as I like to, you pick up on patterns and accents.

Not claiming to have an eye or ear for Australian English, but I have my doubts.

For example I recently overheard a nice young couple speaking. First thought was Colombian. Sure enough, a few seconds later, the girl says something to the effect of "back in Colombia."

I think the key is,

Salty is Turkish.
